The free PC games this week include Breathedge and Rival Stars Horse Racing on the Epic Games Store, available from Aug 27 through Sept 3, 2026. Steam is also running a Free to Keep promotion for Microsoft Flight Simulator Suite: Themes Reimagined, while Epic has already confirmed its next giveaway.
Epic Games Store Free Games This Week
Both Epic titles normally cost $24.99 USD:
- Breathedge: A first-person survival game set in outer space. Players craft tools, pilot vehicles, control space stations, and explore a crashed spaceship's wreckage, with an immortal talking chicken also appearing.
- Rival Stars Horse Racing: Includes racing, breeding, selling, cross-country riding, and virtual race betting.
Claimed games remain in the Epic library, so they do not need to be installed before Sep 3.
Steam Free-to-Keep Promotion
Steam's current Free-to-Keep promotion is Microsoft Flight Simulator Suite: Themes Reimagined, with the offer expiring in 5 hours. Steam's system differs from Play-For-Free events, which provide temporary access and require players to purchase the game to retain it after the event.
- Free-to-Keep: Claimed titles remain permanently in the Steam library and receive the same updates as paid versions.
- Play-For-Free: Access ends when the event concludes unless the game is purchased.
- Free-to-Keep promotions generally run for less than a week.
- These promotions do not provide Steam Trading Cards and can include feature or content limitations.
- Offers can also be subject to availability, including a “while supplies last” condition.

Developed and published by BancyCo, the Windows game launched Feb 14, 2017, and combines adventure, exploration, and space elements with single-player gameplay and controller support. Players attempt to escape a doomed space colony with a troubled AI companion and four holograms.

Its free promotions are separate from permanently free-to-play games, which can be filtered by genre, release date, and user reviews.
