Highlights

  • The Cyberpunk TCG is the most-funded tabletop card game in Kickstarter history, surpassing $9.5M.
  • The project hit its $100k goal in five minutes, unlocking Johnny Silverhand and Saburo Arasaka stretch goals.
  • Backer options range from $49 starter decks to $8,000 collector sets, with shipping starting in Q3 2026.

The Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is officially the most-funded tabletop card game in Kickstarter history. Developed by WeirdCo in close partnership with CD Projekt Red, the highly anticipated project launched on Tuesday at 12 p.m. EDT and immediately shattered crowdfunding expectations. The campaign blew past its initial $100,000 funding goal in just five minutes and quickly surpassed $8.3 million USD from over 10,000 backers.

The total currently sits at a staggering $9.55M (at the time of writing), and with a full 29 days remaining on the clock. The tabletop community is actively testing just how big a trading card game Kickstarter can truly get.

The sheer speed of the game's funding has set entirely new benchmarks for the industry. After clearing its initial goal within minutes, the momentum only snowballed. The campaign crossed the $3M mark in less than an hour and blew past $5M in under three hours. The explosive growth cleared WeirdCo's initial slate of stretch goals so quickly that the developers were scrambling to keep up.

In an early campaign update, the team joked with their community, writing, "You gonks are crazy. We already broke our $3M stretch goal! You're blowing past these goals before we can even release them,” as per Polygon.

New TCG Stretch Goals and the $10 Million Milestone

WeirdCo co-founder and president Elliot Cook shared his excitement in an email to Polygon, noting that becoming the largest TCG in crowdfunding history in under 12 hours is a massive signal from fans. Cook called CD Projekt Red a "dream partner" and mentioned that their representatives were right there on site in Seattle with the WeirdCo team to push the campaign live.

According to Cook, the overwhelming momentum from fans and local game stores shows they aren't just launching a product but kicking off a game that truly builds human connection. Because the campaign's speed was so unprecedented, developers rapidly drafted a new roadmap of stretch goals to upgrade the game's beta box.

Early tiers quickly added extra booster packs, a promotional V: Corporate Exile card, and an upgrade at $4M that guarantees two rare-or-higher cards in all booster packs. As funding continued to climb past $8.5M, backers secured bonus Legendary Packs featuring Johnny Silverhand, followed by premium card sleeves at $9M and Saburo Arasaka-themed upgrades at $9.5M.

If the campaign hits the massive $10M milestone, which could happen within days or hours, WeirdCo has promised that all beta boxes will include an additional Legend pack, and backers will receive a Kickstarter-exclusive "Nova Rare" Rebecca card.

Backer Tiers From Casual to Hardcore Collectors

To accommodate everyone from casual players to hardcore collectors, backer tiers are widely varied. The entry-level "Common Cyberdecks" tier starts at $49 and includes two pre-built starter decks designed to help new players learn the ropes.

On the extremely high end, serious cardboard investors can spend up to $8,000 on the "Night City Legend" tier. WeirdCo specifically chose a direct-to-consumer approach on Kickstarter to prevent the severe price-gouging often seen with massive TCG releases.

Originally announced in December 2025, the game aims to perfectly translate the gritty, high-stakes action of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game into a fiercely competitive format. With a month still remaining on the crowdfunding clock, WeirdCo and CD Projekt Red are organically tuning these gameplay systems before the physical game officially rolls out.

Meanwhile, Backers can expect to receive their rewards in two distinct waves. The first wave is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026 and includes starter decks, beta booster displays, and related add-ons via express shipping. A second wave, arriving in the fourth quarter of 2026 with standard shipping, will deliver all remaining products.
