Meccha Chameleon has sold more than 20M copies since launching on June 10, 2026, reaching the milestone just over two months after becoming a breakout indie hit. Developer and publisher lemorion_1224 confirmed the figure on Steam on August 12 with a brief message, “Over 20 million units sold! Thank you for your support!”
The game reached 500K sales within two days, 7M in its first two weeks, and 15M after one month. The latest 5M copies, therefore, came during its second month, while the game continues receiving updates, including one released on Aug 11.
Meccha Chameleon Turns Camouflage Into Multiplayer Content
The hide-and-seek game has players paint their white characters to resemble objects and backgrounds, creating a prop-hunt-style experience built around public matches, online co-op, and streaming. Its modding community has added thousands of maps, while streamers and viral hiding spots on social media platforms have helped expand its reach.
Steam currently lists Meccha Chameleon with 16,025 Very Positive recent reviews and 40,681 Very Positive English reviews. SteamDB lists about 83K total reviews and an 86.12% score. The title uses Unreal Engine and Epic Online Services SDK and costs INR 309 in India, with INR 247 recorded as its lowest price.
Sales Milestone Follows Wider Player Growth
Peak concurrent players have declined from June 2026, but SteamDB figures show around 22K daily players. Meccha Chameleon has also ranked among the most-played games in the U.S. across Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox.
The game faced a brief disruption when user-made maps contained malware and its official Discord server was hacked. However, both incidents were resolved.
Meccha Chameleon remains available only on Windows through Steam, with no announced Mac or console version.
