Rockstar Games updated its Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) marketing on June 29, 2026, by adding a "Plays Best on PS5" label to its official channels. The tagline first appeared in Sony Interactive Entertainment's GTA VI campaign last week.
It now appears on the official GTA VI landing page on Rockstar's website alongside the November 19, 2026, release date and a "Pre-Order Now" button. Rockstar even used the branding in its latest X post, promoting the GTA VI Ultimate Edition. The Standard Edition is priced at $79.99 USD, while the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99 and includes additional in-game content.
Rockstar has also confirmed that the game launches exclusively on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while physical editions will ship without a game disc.
Sony Explains Why GTA VI ‘Plays Best on PS5’
Sony introduced the messaging in a June 24, 2026, PlayStation Blog post announcing its partnership with Rockstar Games. In the post, Mary Yee, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sony Interactive Entertainment, noted that GTA VI uses PS5 technologies, including DualSense haptic feedback, the controller's integrated speaker, adaptive triggers, Tempest 3D AudioTech, and the console's ultra-high-speed SSD.
According to Sony, these features help deliver the best console experience for the game's single-player campaign.
The collaboration is also reflected across PlayStation's ecosystem. After pre-orders opened, Sony rolled out GTA VI branding across the PlayStation Store, PS5 interface, and PlayStation mobile app. Players also spotted a custom GTA VI startup animation, making it the first game to replace the PS5's default boot screen.
The new branding reflects the close partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Rockstar Games ahead of GTA VI's launch.
