Kim Tae-hyung, the BTS vocalist also known as V, has reached the Master rank on South Korea's League of Legends solo queue ladder. This placed him in the top 1.5% of players in the world's most competitive gaming region while being actively on tour.
From Diamond 4 to Master: BTS V’s Multi-Year Climb
The milestone was discovered on August 6, 2026, after viewers identified a rank promotion screen in the background of an Instagram story V posted. Interestingly, that story was related to their infamous Grammy retraction. Notably, the second-youngest BTS member achieved the Master benchmark at 1 League Point (LP), while he was rehearsing and traveling internationally for their ARIRANG World Tour.
According to PCGamesN, the threshold caps a multi-year climb on a server which is known as the global top ground for professional League of Legends players. BTS V reportedly attained the Diamond 4 status in October 2023. By June 2026, he had climbed to Diamond 2, holding a 61%-win rate across 72 games before completing his 184-game run to Master.
From BTS to Faker: Gaming’s Deep Roots in Korean Pop Culture
The achievement highlights how deeply gaming is integrated within South Korea’s demography, including its entertainment icons. BTS Jin is also known to be an avid gamer. On many occasions, he has been captured playing computer games or conducting related events for BTS' variety shows Run BTS and Run Jin. Notably, in 2020, League of Legends Champion Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and his esports organization, T1, appeared on Run BTS for a themed special titled "League of Number One."
