5 Games Leaving Xbox Game Pass on April 15: GTA V, Ashen & More
Five games, including Grand Theft Auto V, Ashen, and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, officially leave Xbox Game Pass today. Buy them now with a 20% subscriber discount!
Highlights
- Grand Theft Auto V and Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes officially leave Xbox Game Pass today, April 15.
- The departure list also includes the soulslike Ashen, strategy epic Terra Invicta, and My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery.
- Despite the losses, the catalog remains in a net positive with the Wave 2 lineup expected to be announced on April 21.
As part of Microsoft’s routine catalog shuffle, Xbox Game Pass is waving goodbye to five titles today, April 15. The undeniable heavyweight of this departure wave is Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V. If you were right in the middle of building up your criminal empire in Los Santos or coordinating a heist with your buddies, you're officially out of time on the subscription service. However, there is a silver lining: you can still grab all five of these departing games at a flat 20% discount to keep them permanently and pick up your saves right where you left off.
GTA V is bowing out after exactly one year on the service, having rejoined Game Pass back in April 2025. That actually makes this its longest stint on the platform to date, as its past three appearances only lasted between four and six months. It’s easy to see why Microsoft kept it around as long as possible. Rocking a massive 92 average score on OpenCritic. Beyond its critical acclaim, it’s the most commercially successful game ever made.
After blowing past the $6 billion USD sales mark in April 2018 to become the highest-grossing entertainment product of all time, it pulled in another $2.6B over the next eight years, as per GameRant. With Rockstar tightly managing its digital footprint ahead of the massive hype for Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year, seeing it leave now makes perfect sense.

Epic Games
RPGs, Soulslikes, and Strategy: The Rest of the Chopping Block
Joining the Los Santos madness on the chopping block are four very different games. Subscribers are losing access to the acclaimed 2024 JRPG Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which boasts a 75 average score and usually takes a hefty 46 to 99 hours to finish. It's leaving after a year and two months in the service. Also packing its bags is the visually striking 2018 soulslike Ashen, carrying an 80 OpenCritic score and taking about 16 to 27 hours to clear after a run of a year and five months.
The family-friendly 2024 platformer My Little Pony: A Zephyr Heights Mystery is making a much quicker exit, leaving after just three months. A playthrough for that one runs around 4 to 11 hours. All of these are disappearing from Xbox consoles, PC, and Cloud Gaming. Finally, strategy fans on PC are also losing Terra Invicta. The complex sci-fi title, which takes a massive 68 to 150 hours to conquer and was just left in early access in January 2026, is departing after a two-year run.
Even though losing heavy hitters like a massive open-world blockbuster or a hundred-hour RPG hurts, April 2026 is actually shaping up to be a big win for Game Pass overall. The first half of the month has been a notable net positive for the catalog's size. While the first quarter of the year saw 28 games leave, and almost half of those dropped in January alone, the recent departure waves have been unusually small. Late March only saw two games exit: Mad Streets and Peppa Pig: World Adventures.
Meanwhile, Microsoft has already brought in eight new games since the turn of the month, with five more confirmed on the way. Those new arrivals have easily offset today's losses. We shouldn't have to wait long to see what else is coming to close out the month, either.
Based on Microsoft's usual habits, the Wave 2 lineup announcement will likely drop on Tuesday, April 21. If that holds, it'll be the tenth straight Game Pass reveal to hit on a Tuesday, keeping up a streak that only broke once back in October 2025 when they opted for a Wednesday drop.
