Cookie Run: Kingdom x K-Pop: Demon Hunters Crossover Now Live!

The worlds of sweet pastries and fierce demon hunting have officially collided. Developer Devsisters launched a highly anticipated crossover event between its hit mobile strategy RPG Cookie Run: Kingdom and the acclaimed Netflix animated film K-Pop: Demon Hunters. The massive update went live on April 8, 2026, giving players until May 6 at 4:59 PM ET to dive into the glitz of K-Pop, unlock new idol Cookies, and experience a fresh, limited-time storyline.

At first glance, mixing a game about cute baked goods with a movie centered on supernatural combat might seem like an unusual pairing. However, it makes perfect sense when considering the developer's South Korean roots. This collaboration not only celebrates the two-time Oscar-winning film, which recently took home Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song at the 98th Academy Awards, but also highlights the Korean influences deeply woven into the game's DNA.

At the heart of the event are the stars of the film: the world-famous girl group HUNTR/X, who secretly moonlight as demon hunters. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey have arrived in the game's Dark Cacao Kingdom as playable Special Cookies. Rumi Cookie acts as a fast, close-range Ambush fighter, wielding a demon-vanquishing blade while harboring a hidden secret. Mira Cookie brings intense frontline pressure as a Charge-type dancer who shatters walls with stunning shockwaves. Finally, the Ranged-type Zoey Cookie pierces enemies from afar with divine, rap-fueled attacks. 

All three are joined by a colorful cast of characters from the movie, including Derpy, Sussie, and the villainous Saja Boys, a rival boy band secretly made up of demons in disguise. Players can experience the reimagined narrative firsthand through a special episode titled "HUNTR/X Show in the Cookie World!" Here, fans team up with the pop stars to sing and battle in defense of the Cookie Honmoon while the Saja Boys attempt to sabotage the world's spirit gates.

Fresh Gameplay Modes and Boss Raids

To fight back, the update introduces thrilling new gameplay modes. Players can tackle "Live! Survival on Stage," a survival experience featuring setlist missions for exclusive rewards, or jump into "Gwi-Ma! Demon Distress," an epic boss raid where you build a team to fight the demon king Gwi-ma himself for points and loot. 

The crossover also brings an exciting community competition. Announced via the game's official Twitter, the "Decorate Your Kingdom" event runs from April 15 to April 22. Players can submit screenshots of their embellished kingdoms for a chance to be one of 20 winners selected to receive exclusive K-Pop: Demon Hunters collab merchandise, alongside 3,000 Crystals and 1,500 Rainbow Cubes. Winners will be announced on April 27, as per GameRant. 

Continuing a Legacy of Epic Crossovers

Beyond the intense combat and contests, players can customize their kingdoms with themed costumes and new types of decor inspired by the film. By building the vibrant Soda Pop stage or the grand Golden Stage, fans can even interact with their Cookies to play the movie's official soundtrack hits right in their kingdom.

The event trailer has sparked active discussion among the community, with fans praising how well the bespoke storyline fits into the game's universe. Many highlighted the significant role of Dark Cacao Cookie, whose original kingdom is heavily influenced by Korean culture. While this collaboration isn't part of the official canon, it continues Devsisters' impressive streak of blending accessible RPG action with major pop culture phenomenas. This isn't the game's first foray into the music world, either; veteran players will remember the massive BTS crossover that ran from October 2022 to January 2023 allowing fans to unlock band members as playable cookies.

With a staggering 300 million players and $1 billion USD in revenue since its 2021 launch, Cookie Run: Kingdom remains a mobile juggernaut. As a sequel to K-Pop: Demon Hunters is announced, fans of both franchises have plenty of universe-expanding content to look forward to.
