Epic Brings Harry Potter IP Into Fortnite Ecosystem

Epic Games has announced a wide-ranging Harry Potter–themed activation across its ecosystem, as part of its December slate. Epic, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, revealed on Dec 11 that they are bringing Warner Bros’ Wizarding World IP into Fortnite, Rocket League, and the Epic Games Store for free.

The integration, announced at The Game Awards 2025, extends beyond a single platform. Under the new update, Hogwarts Legacy, Avalanche Software’s blockbuster open-world RPG, will be free in Fortnite. Rocket League is hosting a Hogwarts House–themed event as part of its annual Frosty Fest programming. 

The update stays live from Dec 11 to Dec 18, on Epic’s ecosystem. As part of the campaign, Epic Games Store will also feature wizarding world-inspired outfits and accessories later in December.

What’s Inside Hogwarts Legacy’s Fortnite Integration

Epic’s Fortnite tie-in does not add playable Hogwarts characters or story content, but it leverages Hogwarts Legacy engagement to unlock cosmetic rewards and themed experiences. Players who spend at least two hours in Hogwarts Legacy on Epic Games Store by Dec 18, receive the Chocolate Frog Back Bling for Fortnite. The additional Wizarding World–inspired outfits will be customizable to represent the four houses: Slytherin, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw.

Players will be able to participate in wizarding-world activities, such as taking lessons or completing tasks. To make the experience more authentic, players can also commute via an enchanted broomstick or a Hippogriff. The gameplay will feature puzzles, battles, and spells. PCWorld’s reporting notes that the battles are not very challenging and are suitable for beginners. 

In Rocket League, the event, Hogwarts House Rivalry, will provide players the opportunity to participate in matches under the banner of one of the four Hogwarts houses. Players will also get Challenge rewards and Harry Potter-themed in-game shop items, which Epic hasn’t disclosed yet.

The Harry Potter rollout underscores a growing convergence between Warner Bros’ franchise strategy and Epic’s vision for Fortnite as a multiverse-style engagement hub. While it's not the first time Fortnite has brought Warner Bros’ characters, the popularity of Hogwarts Legacy adds weight to the collaboration. The game was one of 2023’s best-selling titles globally and has sold 34M copies as of Mar 2025.
