Epic Games Releases Star Wars Assets for Fortnite UEFN Creators
Fortnite creators will get Star Wars tools with 20% Disney revenue share.
Highlights
- Star Wars tools will arrive in Unreal Editor for Fortnite and Creative.
- Creators must share 20% engagement revenue with Disney.
- Publishing opens May 1, 2026, with Discover placement support.
Epic Games has introduced licensed Star Wars development tools for Fortnite creators. This allows them to build and publish themed experiences using official assets. The toolkit is available through Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Fortnite Creative.
Publishing opens May 1, 2026, when a dedicated Star Wars collection will also appear in Fortnite’s Discover interface. Creators using the assets must share 20% of engagement-based revenue with Disney.
The release marks one of the largest intellectual property (IP) integrations on the platform.
Developers can access templates set in environments such as Tatooine, Hoth, and Nevarro. These also include gameplay features such as customizable Force powers, lightsabers, and large-scale battle systems. Additional functionality, including first-person weapon support and expanded inventory systems, is scheduled to roll out ahead of the publishing window.
Fortnite-Star Wars Creator Tools and Publishing Rollout
Eligible Star Wars islands may receive additional Discover placement, including Epic’s Picks and Epic’s promotional programs. The toolkit will feature licensed music, multiple starter islands, and assets such as Darth Vader, TIE fighters, Luke Skywalker, X-wings, and rideable Tauntauns.
Publishing requires enrollment in the Fortnite Developer Program and compliance with Star Wars brand rules. In-island transactions are not supported, and projects using the licensed assets require revenue sharing with Disney.
Epic and Disney Partnership Expands Branded Content Strategy
The launch follows Disney’s $1.5 billion USD investment in Epic in 2024, aimed at building a persistent universe connected to Fortnite. Epic has gradually added branded creation tools tied to franchises like Squid Game, and Lego, with Star Wars representing a major addition.
Andre Balta, Epic’s senior director of ecosystem growth, told The Verge that “since day one, every creator was like, ‘When are we getting Star Wars?’” He added that Disney aimed to give creators broad access to assets while maintaining brand guidelines.
The rollout extends Fortnite’s shift toward licensed user-generated content and franchise-driven experiences.
