For millions of mobile puzzle fans, the dream of playing Block Blast! without annoying commercial breaks is finally coming true. The globally dominating grid-puzzle game is officially heading to Apple Arcade on September 3 as Block Blast!+. This new release delivers the exact same addictive block-dropping gameplay that players love, but it entirely strips away the frequent pop-up ads and in-app purchases. It is a massive upgrade that lets players stay completely immersed in chasing high scores.
If you have played the standard version, you know the struggle. After every loss, a video ad forces you to wait before you can start a new gaming session. It is a tedious cycle that has led many frustrated players to force-close and reopen the app just to skip the commercials. Fans have long begged developer Hungry Studio for a premium, ad-free option, and this new Arcade edition answers that call. Alongside uninterrupted gameplay, Block Blast!+ brings standard Apple Arcade perks, including offline play and cross-device progress syncing across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
The sheer scale of the game’s success is hard to overstate. Apple’s internal data confirmed that Block Blast! was the most downloaded free iPhone game of 2025. According to Hungry Studio and third-party app intelligence providers like Sensor Tower, it has continued to hold that number-one spot through the early months of 2026. Appfigures estimates the game has amassed around 725M lifetime installs, though other estimates put that staggering figure even higher, at 868M.

Why the Shift to Subscription?
With the game continuing to acquire tens of millions of new users every month, you might wonder why the studio is bringing it to a subscription service now. Just a few months ago, Hungry Studio reported a massive 70M daily active users and 300M monthly active users, even promoting the title at this year’s Coachella to fuel further growth.
However, a deeper dive into the data shows that downloads may have actually fallen from their peak in late 2024, when the game was pulling in nearly 50M downloads a month. As the title matures and rapid growth naturally slows, tapping into Apple Arcade’s flat-fee subscription model offers the developer a reliable new revenue stream while giving loyal fans the premium experience they have been asking for.
The highly requested puzzler will not be arriving alone on September 3. Apple Arcade is rolling out a massive wave of games, including Art of Fauna: Cozy Puzzles+. This premium version of the 2025 App Store Award winner lets players reconstruct vintage nature illustrations while learning about wildlife conservation, complete with a text-based alternative mode for visually and cognitively impaired players.
Other titles launching the same day include NFL Retro Bowl ’27, Coloring Games for Families+, and Let’s Play! Oink Games+, a digital collection of nine tabletop games. Gamers can access all of these titles through an Apple Arcade subscription for $6.99 per month, or bundle it with Apple One plans starting at $19.95.
