HoYoverse has unveiled Nodusfall, a co-op action game set in an original fantasy world shaped by mythology from different cultures. The game premiered at Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live on Aug 25, 2026, with its first trailer introducing a realistic visual direction and a combat system built around squad coordination.
The studio has not yet announced a release date or platforms.
Nodusfall Creates a World Beyond HoYoverse’s Anime Style
Unlike Honkai: Star Rail, Genshin Impact, and Zenless Zone Zero, Nodusfall uses a realistic art style. Its world combines legendary creatures inspired by Eastern folklore with Western dragons and other mythological beings.
HoYoverse says players will encounter new regions with distinct ecosystems, cultures, and histories as the journey expands.
The story unfolds after divine authority collapses, allowing the Dreadnodi to spread corruption across the world and its legendary creatures. Players take on the role of Weavers, beings connected to the divine, tasked with stopping the calamity, reclaiming lost power, severing the Dreadnodus at its source, and uncovering the world's secrets.
The official trailer on YouTube describes the setting as a wild era "before myths were written," where players can explore its mysteries and form bonds with different heroes.
Co-Op Combat Shapes Nodusfall’s Gameplay
Players will form squads to battle massive mythical creatures. Combat emphasizes teamwork and tactical adaptation, with characters customizable through different styles and skill combinations. Victories against powerful enemies provide resources that unlock additional skills and weapons, giving players more ways to develop their builds.
The reveal footage combines gameplay and in-engine cinematics created with Unreal Engine 5 (UE5).
Nodusfall places HoYoverse closer to the co-op action space occupied by Monster Hunter and Elden Ring Nightreign, giving the studio a new competitive lane beyond its established RPG model.
