Pocketpair Publishing Takes Clicky Islands to Asia
Pocketpair expands its indie publishing business with Karrot Games’ incremental city-builder.
Highlights
- Clicky Islands is scheduled for release on Steam in 2026, with Pocketpair Publishing leading its rollout across Asia.
- The game passed 15,000 Steam wishlists in August following updates that added Asian-language support and new progression systems.
- The city-builder combines clicker mechanics, automated production and persistent upgrades across procedurally generated islands.
Pocketpair Publishing is co-publishing Clicky Islands, an incremental city-builder from two-person Polish developer Karrot Games, as the Palworld maker expands its work with independent studios.
Pocketpair announced the publishing deal on July 24. Karrot Games later said Pocketpair would work on marketing, quality assurance and localization while taking the lead on bringing the game to players across Asia, a market the small studio said it would struggle to reach independently. Steam lists both Karrot Games and Pocketpair Publishing as publishers.
Clicky Islands is scheduled for PC through Steam sometime in 2026. Neither a specific release date nor a price has been announced.
The partnership gives Pocketpair another indie title to support beyond its own games. John Buckley, Pocketpair’s head of communications and publishing, has described Clicky Islands as a combination of clicker, incremental, automation and town-building mechanics.
Clicky Islands Passes 15,000 Steam Wishlists
Karrot Games said Aug. 4 that Clicky Islands had passed 15,000 Steam wishlists. A free demo, originally released Feb. 20, is available ahead of the full game and currently carries a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.
In Clicky Islands, players control a governor tasked by a king with developing an island into a kingdom. Each island is procedurally generated based partly on perks unlocked through the game’s persistent progression system.
Players initially collect resources through traditional clicker mechanics before recruiting units and constructing buildings that automate production. Reputation earned during play unlocks permanent perks through a meta-progression tree, while artifacts recovered from ancient ruins can provide additional upgrades that carry between islands.
The structure shifts the game gradually from manual resource gathering toward automated settlement management, blending incremental-game progression with city-building and resource-management systems. For Karrot Games, Pocketpair’s involvement also provides a route into Asian markets as the two-person studio prepares Clicky Islands for its full Steam release later this year.
