Samsung Electronics has retained the top position in the global gaming monitor market for the seventh consecutive year, the company announced on April 2, 2026. According to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the Korean conglomerate accounted for 18.9% of global gaming monitor revenue in 2025, aligning with the country’s rising presence in competitive gaming.
The company also ranked first in the OLED gaming monitor segment for the third consecutive year, with a 26% market share. However, both figures show a slight decline from a year prior, reflecting growing competitive pressure in the hardware market. In 2024, Samsung held a 21% share of the global gaming monitor market and led the OLED segment with 34.6% share that year.
Hun Lee, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics, said the company's goal is to “continue leading the market with differentiated innovation,” citing partnerships with game studios and an expanding gaming title library as key pillars of the strategy. Samsung also enlisted T1 esports star Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok as a brand partner, with the player noting that seven years at the top reflects a consistent product preference among professional and competitive players.

Samsung Reigns in a Growing and Challenging Gaming Monitor Market
Samsung's retention of market leadership comes as the gaming monitor category expands with a growth trajectory toward $18.25 billion USD by 2032. The OLED gaming monitor market specifically grew from $2.18B in 2025 to $2.28B in 2026, with projections reaching $3.48B by 2032.
While the market is growing and players are inclining towards PC gaming due to rising console prices, Samsung's gap with competitors is narrowing as OLED adoption spreads. Companies like LG, ASUS, and MSI have also gained sustainable shares in the OLED market. Earlier in December 2025, LG unveiled the UltraGear evo gaming monitor lineup, coinciding with CES 2026.
TrendForce reported in November 2025 that ASUS surpassed Samsung in OLED monitor shipments in Q3 2025, claiming a 21.9% shipment share versus Samsung's 18%, with a diversified product range. Samsung's lead in the broader gaming monitor segment is measured by revenue rather than units sold.
Samsung recently unveiled its latest Odyssey lineup at GDC 2026 in San Francisco. The Odyssey 3D model delivers glasses-free 3D gaming and is reported to support 120 titles by the end of this year. The lineup also includes what it claims to be the world's first 1,040Hz gaming monitor in Odyssey G6, and the industry's first 6K gaming monitor in Odyssey G8.
These technical benchmarks position Samsung at the high end of a market where specifications increasingly function as marketing currency. “In gaming, the smallest difference makes all the difference,” added Faker in the press release. However, whether Samsung sustains the seven-year reign in the gaming monitor market with the new lineup and records an eight-year high, that depends on market demand.
