Highlights
- 2K Games confirms WWE 2K24 will be delisted and its servers shut down in 2026.
- Critical features like Community Creations and online multiplayer will cease to function.
- Low player engagement drives the move, ending the game's two-year lifecycle.
2K Games has confirmed that WWE 2K24 is reaching the end of its lifecycle just over two years after its release, with online servers scheduled to shut down on Mar 31, 2026, as stated by Delisted Games. In a move that effectively chokes out the game’s full utility, the publisher will also delist the title from digital storefronts from Jan 31, 2026. This decision renders the game unpurchasable for new players nearly two months before the online infrastructure goes dark, strictly adhering to the publisher’s established operational pattern for its annual sports titles.
The shutdown will strip WWE 2K24 of all online functionality, leaving existing owners with access only to offline modes such as Play Now and Showcase once the deadline passes. According to the game’s Steam page and 2K’s status updates, popular features including online multiplayer and online-based achievements will cease to function.
Most critically, the shutdown will kill the Community Creations mode, a vital feature that allows players to share and download custom wrestlers, effectively severing the community-driven lifeline that sustains the game’s replayability. While the Mar 31 date is a slight extension from an original target of Jan 5, 2026.

Steam
Declining Player Engagement
This rapid sunsetting highlights a strict two-year rule that is becoming a standard source of frustration for the fanbase. 2K has already outlined a similar fate for WWE 2K25; launched in March 2025, it is already scheduled for retirement on Mar 14, 2027. This follows the precedent set by previous entries, with WWE 2K23 servers closing in January 2025 and WWE 2K22 in January 2024.
The strategy extends beyond wrestling, as 2K is also ending support for other sports titles, including The Golf Club 2019 and PGA Tour 2K21, forcing players into a cycle of upgrading to the latest annual release to maintain online access.
However, data suggests 2K may be cutting its losses based on engagement; recent figures showed only around 128 players on Steam as of now, a number that arguably does not justify the ongoing expense of maintaining dedicated servers. Despite this, fans contend that modes feel dead too quickly, even if the core gameplay remains solid.
For players who still wish to own WWE 2K24, the window of opportunity is closing rapidly. The digital version and all downloadable content (DLC) must be purchased before the Jan 31, 2026, delisting deadline.
While offline play will remain functional, avoiding a situation where the game becomes completely unplayable, the online ecosystem will vanish entirely by the end of March, marking the definitive end of the road for the 2024 title.
