According to Luminate data, DEADLINE sold 52,000 equivalent album units in the United States for the week ending on March 5. Of that total, 41,000 units accounted for pure album sales, illustrating the group's sustained dominance in physical sales, a trademark of the K-pop collector market. On the other hand, streaming activity contributed about 11,000 streaming-equivalent album units, which is comparable to approximately 11.46 million on-demand audio plays of the album songs.
BLACKPINK K-pop Record: Billboard Chart Success
The recent chart entry marks BLACKPINK’s fourth top 10 placement on the Top Album Sales ranking and their third top 10 appearance on the Billboard 200. Their new EP DEADLINE comes after their chart-topping venture BORN PINK (2022), which entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, marking one of BLACKPINK’s highest K-pop chart entries.
In the years between group releases, all four members (Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé) ventured into solo projects, which also achieved global success. The individual solo releases also did well on the Billboard charts, with Jisoo's Amortage reaching the Top 15 on the Top Album Sales chart.
DEADLINE has also achieved tremendous global success outside BLACKPINK’s home country and the United States. According to South Korea's Hanteo Chart, the album sold over 1.46 million physical copies worldwide on its first day, creating a BLACKPINK global sales milestone, thereby highlighting the largest ever total achieved up until now by a K-pop female group. In addition, with BLACKPINK's first-week sales of 1.77 million copies, the EP indicated strong demand for the group and its content across various markets.
BLACKPINK’s Global Sales Reflect K-pop’s Growing Market
BLACKPINK is currently ranked on the Top Album Sales chart alongside many high-profile Western artists, including Bruno Mars. Mars topped the list with The Romantic, his second chart-topper and sixth top-ten hit. Furthermore, new albums by Gorillaz and Mitski entered the list at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, while Rob Zombie appeared at No. 6. Elsewhere in the top 10, Bad Bunny's erstwhile No. 1 DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS remained steady at No. 5. On the K-pop front, ATEEZ'S GOLDEN HOUR: Part. 4 and ENHYPEN'S THE SIN: VANISH both dropped a level to No. 7 and 8, respectively.
BLACKPINK’s chart performance reflects K-pop's continued global expansion in the recorded music market. According to industry forecasts, K-pop will continue to lead strong physical sales and fan-driven collector demand globally through 2026, with BLACKPINK being one of the most profitable acts in the genre.
