Highlights

  • BTS’ Swim sustains on Billboard with strong global streams and sales despite chart corrections.
  • ARIRANG continues its historic global run with key effectiveness on Billboard, Spotify, and UK charts.
  • Amidst this, BTS member Jimin’s Who attained 2.4 billion Spotify streams, setting a new benchmark for Asian solo artists.

Longevity is the only currency that sustains amidst the volatile economy of global pop. Although many acts fight hard for sustenance in a single chart cycle, acts like BTS showcase how to maintain a gravity defying grip on the industry’s most competitive metrics, like the Billboard.

According to the latest data released by the same entity, the group’s lead song Swim has rebounded for a five-week peak on their Global Excl. U.S. chart. Despite a cyclical dip, the song remains a strong anchor, logging 50 million streams and 3,000 sales outside the American territories. The song has also maintained its No. 2 spot on the Global 200 chart of Billboard, after a strong April run at the top.

ARIRANG Extends BTS’ Global Dominance

BTS’ Billboard performance does not just depict a singular spike; it is a part of a momentum which is broadly institutional. The group’s album ARIRANG, has extended its residency on the Billboard 200 for seven weeks now. ARIRANG currently occupies the No.7 position and had earlier peaked at No.1 for three consecutive weeks, a first for any K-pop act.

The venture’s global success is further showcased by its return to No. 1 on Spotify’s Weekly Top Albums Global ranking. In fact, BTS has also gained significant placement in the UK charts, which is deemed to be historically pretty difficult to penetrate. The album ranked at No. 20 on UK’s Albums Top 100 while Swim maintained a presence at No.49 on the Singles Top 100 chart.

BTS Jimin’s Solo Milestone Reshapes Streaming History

Although the BTS has been a collective force since the beginning, individual benchmarks achieved by the members are redefining the parameters of solo projects in the music industry. Notably, BTS member Jimin’s Who officially received 2.4B Spotify streams as of May 8, 2026.

According to The Korea Herald, citing  BigHit Music, it is the first solo song by an Asian artist without a featured guest act to reach this milestone. The song has been a permanent fixture on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global chart since its July 2024 release and currently sits at No.37 on the platform’s list of most-streamed songs of all time.

Prior to Rosé raising the streaming bar with her Bruno Mars collab, APT. on Billboard Hot 100 rankings, the spot was held by Jimin for a long time as a soloist with a 33-week run.

K-pop’s Billboard Battle Against Global Pop Giants

The high-stakes ecosystem of K-pop often clashes with Western juggernauts, thereby keeping chart metrics under pressure. For instance, current Billboard data notes that the Jennie x Tampa Impala venture, Dracula, maintains its No.4 position on both Global 200 charts after a peak of No. 2. The song has also ranked amongst the top 10 of Billboard Hot 100 at No. 10.

For the broader industry, these rankings, weighted by Luminate via metrics related to subscription tiers and digital sales, showcase a pivotal aspect. It reveals that the K-pop phenomenon is here to stay as a permanent, multi-layered market fixture.
