Sony Confirms Ghost of Yotei for PS5 with 2025 Release Date & More

Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Sucker Punch Productions have announced that Ghost of Yotei, the standalone sequel to the acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, will launch on October 2, 2025. The title will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 and will introduce a new protagonist whose story is set in 16th-century northern Japan. Pre-orders for the game are now live worldwide, including in India.

Price, Editions and Pre-Order Bonuses in India

For gamers in India, Ghost of Yotei will be available in several editions to suit different preferences and budgets. The Standard Edition is priced at ₹4,999. For those seeking additional in-game content, the Digital Deluxe Edition is available for ₹5,599. A premium Collector’s Edition, aimed at dedicated fans and featuring exclusive physical and digital items, will also be released with an estimated price ranging between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000.

Players who pre-order any edition of the game will receive exclusive bonus content, including the Atsu + Yotei Six Avatar Set and an in-game mask. Those who purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition will receive a larger collection of digital items, which includes The Snake Armour set, an exclusive armour dye, a unique horse and saddle, a special sword kit, a bonus charm, and early access to the Traveller's Map.

New Gameplay and World

Ghost of Yotei is not just a new story; it's an evolution of the gameplay that fans loved. The combat system has received a major upgrade, giving players a much deadlier arsenal. You can now wield dual katans and master new weapons like the long-reaching ōdachi, powerful yari spears, the versatile kusarigama sickles, and even the tanegashima rifle for ranged attacks.

The open world is built around a non-linear quest structure, tasking you with hunting down the six formidable members of the "Yōtei Six" gang. Beyond the main quest, the world is filled with immersive activities that reflect the culture of the era, from relaxing in onsens and practising sumi-e painting to playing the shamisen. 

A New Legend's Quest for Vengeance

The story introduces a new protagonist named Atsu, a mercenary whose life is defined by a singular goal: revenge. Sixteen years before the game's events, the ruthless Yōtei Six gang destroyed her family, and now she's back to settle the score.

To do this, Atsu adopts the persona of an onryō, a vengeful spirit from Japanese folklore. As she hunts down the gang's leaders, including the formidable Lord Saitō. The narrative promises a dark and personal journey exploring themes of revenge, resilience, and redemption.

Furthermore, Sucker Punch revealed during the Gamescom 2025 Opening Night Live showcase that "Ghost of Yōtei: Legends," a new co-op multiplayer experience, will launch separately in 2026.
