Rise of Console Gaming Amidst India’s Surging Gaming, Esports Market

The 2025 PlayStation India Cup takes place during a period of rapid expansion in India's gaming and esports scene. According to a recent PwC report, the Indian gaming and esports market reached $2.72 billion USD in 2024 and is expected to expand to $3.96 billion USD by 2029, indicating a growing interest across all platforms.

Within this landscape, console esports may still be a niche in India, but as organiser NODWIN Gaming’s co-founder Akshat Rathee said in a statement, “PlayStation India Cup is an important step towards boosting and promoting console esports … providing a platform for players to showcase their skill … while fostering a stronger, more connected community.”
