Highlights

  • Evo confirms expansion across multiple regions, including Brazil, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, starting in 2027.
  • The new multi-title Fighting Game World Championship aims to redefine competitive mastery.
  • Following the ownership transition, Evo focuses on infrastructure, community support, and long-term growth through 2030.

The Evolution Championship Series (Evo) has unveiled an update outlining its long-term strategy and expansion into new locations, including Brazil, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia. A statement published on Evo’s official site on Feb 23, titled Beginning The Next Evolution, also mentioned a Fighting Game World Championship in Evo’s new roadmap.

The announcement confirms continued multi-continent expansion, deeper publisher partnerships, and infrastructural investments under the ownership of RTS. Evo’s leadership framed the update as a transition from a few annual tournaments to a year-round global platform for the fighting game community (FGC).

The roadmap includes confirmed 2026 editions of Evo Japan, Evo North America in Las Vegas, Evo France, and the event in Singapore. Along with these, starting from 2027, Evo will expand into five more locations: Brazil, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and China.

The announced  Fighting Game World Championship, which is also anticipated to start from 2027, is not like any other “existing World Championships.” According to Evo, participating in this Championship will require mastery in multiple fighting games instead of one particular title.

Evo’s Vision and Roadmap Under RTS Leadership

As of Feb 19, 2026, Evo is completely under RTS, a Qiddiya Investment Company subsidiary. The state is known for its recent steps in consolidating esports power with the establishment of the Esports World Cup and the Esports Nations Cup.

Esports Insider has highlighted that Evo’s new roadmap is concerning among the FGC members' sentiments. It stated that some anticipate the expanded roadmap might dilute Evo's niche appeal, which started as a grassroots event back in 1996.

The blog has described its strategic expansion as an effort to balance community-driven play with sustainable competitive infrastructure. Organizers promised deeper operational support by stating they will deploy “significant resources to locals around the world to help create sustainability for the bedrock of the FGC.”

Evo has stated it will also work on the common issues local organizers face, from “equipment, to awareness and player connectivity.” The announcement highlights Evo’s “long-term commitments” till 2030, with new circuits, more community support, and an increased prize pool. Additional information will be announced later.
