Indian esports team Team Avengers has emerged victorious in the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2025 Indian qualifiers for Dota 2, securing their place as India’s official representatives at the OXY Esports World Championship 2025, to be held later this year in Russia.
The reigning champions successfully defended their title from last year, once again earning the honour of carrying the Indian flag onto the global stage. In the best-of-three grand finals against challengers WOF, the Avengers swept the series 2–0 in emphatic style. They took the opening game with a commanding 54–24 kill score before sealing the deal in game two, leaving no room for a comeback.
Speaking after the win, team captain Abhishek Yadav told IGN, “The road here hasn’t been easy — it’s been filled with challenges, practice sessions, and sacrifices. This victory proves that our hard work has paid off. Representing India at OXY for the second consecutive year is a huge honour, and we’re more determined than ever to make our country proud.”
The Avengers will now prepare to face some of the world’s best Dota 2 teams from countries including the USA, Brazil, China, Argentina, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, South Africa, Serbia, Vietnam, and more. Lokesh Suji, Director of the Esports Federation of India (ESFI), lauded the team’s achievement, saying, “Team Avengers’ back-to-back qualification is a testament to India’s rising calibre in competitive esports. Their discipline, synergy, and consistent performance are setting a benchmark for the next generation of Indian esports talent.”
