Konami Digital Entertainment has brought footballer Sunil Chhetri, cricketer Sanju Samson and three gaming personalities into an India-focused Diwali campaign for eFootball, pairing celebrity-led promotion with new in-game content.

The campaign runs from October 22 to November 12, according to the company’s October 26 announcement. It is available to players in India across mobile, console and PC.

Chhetri features both in the promotional campaign and inside the game, where players can add an upgraded version of his player card to their squads. Konami has also introduced a Diwali-themed jersey, alongside festive events and rewards.

Sports stars and gaming creators lead Diwali outreach

Samson joins Chhetri, esports player Jonathan Gaming and creators Shreeman Legend and Lolzzz Gaming in specially produced social media content and fan activities. The campaign brings football, cricket and gaming personalities into the same promotion, extending its cast beyond the sport depicted in the game.

“Diwali is a time for people to come together, and we wanted to bring that same spirit of celebration into eFootball,” said Junichi Taya, the game’s general producer at Konami.

Taya said the campaign offers players more ways to personalise their experience through the Chhetri card and festive jersey, as well as opportunities to organise tournaments with friends.

Konami previously used a similar mix of sports and entertainment personalities in its 2025 eFootball campaign in India. That promotion featured Chhetri, cricketers KL Rahul and Nitish Kumar Reddy, and actor Ahan Shetty, alongside Independence Day and Diwali tournaments.

The latest promotion adds India-specific seasonal content to eFootball, the free-to-play successor to Konami’s PES series. The game offers optional in-game purchases and is available on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, iOS and Android.
