Highlights

  • Microsoft has teased a new Xbox Game Pass and Discord partnership, with testing set to begin soon.
  • A leak points to a Game Pass Starter Edition offering over 50 games with Discord Nitro benefits.
  • The reported tier may include limited cloud gaming hours and Xbox Rewards earning features.

Microsoft has begun teasing a renewed partnership with Discord tied to Xbox Game Pass, indicating a potential shift toward bundled subscription offerings. The update follows recent price reductions for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass, and comes as the company prepares early testing of new features.

EVP and CEO of Xbox, Asha Sharma, stated the companies are teaming up again “as we continue to make Game Pass more flexible for our players." She also added that some users “might start to see some code in the wild” ahead of a full reveal.

Discord also posted a brief “Soon” message on X, reinforcing that an announcement is imminent.

The companies have an established integration history, with Xbox and Discord first linking accounts in 2018. Likewise, Discord voice chat arrived on Xbox in 2022, followed by gameplay streaming to Discord in 2023 and the ability to watch Discord streams on Xbox in 2024.

As of April 1, 2026, Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can claim a one-month Discord Nitro trial, though eligibility restrictions apply and the offer converts to a recurring subscription unless canceled.

Xbox Game Pass and Discord Bundle Could Reportedly Introduce a New Entry Tier

A recent leak points to a potential “Game Pass Starter Edition” bundled with Discord Nitro.

The reported tier would provide access to more than 50 titles, Xbox Rewards earnings, and limited cloud gaming at 10 hours per month. Early images suggest games such as Grounded, Stardew Valley, and Fallout 4 may be included, alongside a mix of third-party titles.

The Starter Edition appears designed as a lower-cost entry point rather than a full Game Pass replacement. Separate findings indicate the tier may be internally referred to as “Triton/Duet,” aligning with earlier reports that Microsoft is exploring third-party bundling strategies.

Meanwhile, discussions have also extended beyond Discord, with Netflix leadership previously acknowledging early conversations around subscription bundles.

Microsoft has not yet confirmed the leaked tier. However, the timing of the tease and upcoming testing suggests a structured rollout is being prepared.

The move reflects a broader effort to position Game Pass as a multi-service subscription. Expanding beyond games into bundled digital services could increase retention while offering more flexible access tiers for different user segments.
