Highlights

  • PS5 Pro (CFI-7121) appears on the BIS database, hinting at an India launch.
  • Sony has not confirmed release plans for the console in India.
  • Price may exceed ₹75K, with limited availability expected.

Sony may be preparing to introduce the PS5 Pro in India after the console appeared on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database. A listing for model CFI-7121 was registered on March 9, 2026, according to a discovery shared by PlayStation enthusiast, Arjun Campbell.

The certification suggests the upgraded console could receive an official launch in the country. The Sony PS5 Pro release date has not been confirmed yet. To The Point Blogs' editor Arjun Campbell was the first to report this development. A BIS certification is required before electronic devices can be sold in India, making such listings an early indicator of potential product launches.

Sony PS5 Pro India Price and Availability may Remain Limited

Even if Sony proceeds with a release, availability may remain constrained. During the PlayStation 4 generation, the PS4 Pro accounted for only 10% to 15% of total PS4 sales, and its availability in India was limited.

Sony’s strategy in the market may continue to prioritize the base PlayStation 5. This becomes more relevant as upcoming games such as Wolverine, Saros, and GTA 6 approach release. The lower-priced console remains the more accessible option for most buyers.

Meanwhile, based on global pricing trends, the PS5 Pro is expected to cost more than ₹75K (~$815 USD) in India. By comparison, the disc version of the standard PS5 sells for about ₹50K (~$543).

Some retailers and suppliers across the country have already imported the console unofficially since its November 2024 launch. Prices typically range from ₹70K (~$761) to ₹80K (~$870), depending on stock availability. However, many stores avoid stocking it due to concerns about their business relationship with Sony.

An official launch would provide warranty and after-sales support, but supply may remain limited even if the console reaches the Indian market.
