Highlights
- MLB The Show 26 topped U.S. and Canadian PSN charts in March, beating the launch of Crimson Desert.
- Crimson Desert hit 4 million sales worldwide and dominated the European charts as the #1 title.
- Sports and shooters like WWE 2K26, NBA 2K26, and Marathon filled out the remaining top spots.
It takes a lot of momentum to stop a massive, big-budget RPG in its tracks, but America's favorite pastime just pulled it off. While launch hype is great, steady and established fanbases pay the bills. This past March, MLB The Show 26 successfully swung past Pearl Abyss’s highly anticipated Crimson Desert to secure the number one spot on the United States and Canadian PlayStation Store download charts.
As first spotted by Push Square and shared on the PlayStation Blog, the top 10 bestselling PSN games in the United States for March tell a fascinating story about player habits. MLB The Show 26 took the gold, leaving Crimson Desert to settle for second place despite its massive release on March 19. Survival horror and sports filled out the rest of the top five, with Resident Evil Requiem landing in third, followed by WWE 2K26 and NBA 2K26.
The rest of the top ten included Bungie's Marathon at number six, Arc Raiders at seven, the seemingly immortal Grand Theft Auto 5 at eight, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at nine, and EA Sports FC 26, rounding out the list at number ten, as per The Gamer.
Bungie's placement is worth a quick note. Seeing Marathon sitting at the number six spot in the U.S. and missing the top ten entirely in Europe—landing at number eleven—shows the extraction shooter didn't perform quite as well on consoles as expected. It's definitely a more PC-centric title, but missing the top five on PlayStation is still a noticeable stumble.
Speaking of Europe, the sales data reveals a completely different landscape overseas. On the EU charts, Crimson Desert easily dominated the number one position. Unsurprisingly, MLB The Show 26 completely failed to crack the top 20 there, while regional heavyweights like EA Sports FC 26 held incredibly strong, sitting comfortably at the number two spot.

Crimson Desert Crosses 4 Million Sales Milestone
Even with a silver medal in the United States, Crimson Desert remains an absolute commercial juggernaut. Market analysts report the open-world game generated an estimated $200 million USD in gross revenue within its first two weeks alone. It crossed the two million sales milestone in just a few days and has already pushed four million copies worldwide across all platforms.
The PS5 ecosystem is heavily driving this success. Exactly one quarter of the game's overall unit sales were sold strictly on Sony's console. That translates to roughly $75M in revenue from the PlayStation 5 alone, making up nearly 38% of the game's total global earnings.
Still, MLB The Show 26 beat out such a massive RPG release. San Diego Studio’s baseball sim is a recurring commercial powerhouse, especially since March naturally aligns with the return of the real-world MLB season. According to data compiled by Circana, last year's iteration, MLB The Show 25, was the 12th best-selling game of the entire year in the U.S. It outsold heavy hitters like Elden Ring Nightreign, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and WWE 2K25, finishing just one spot behind Ghost of Yotei. At one point in November 2025, it was sitting as the ninth bestselling game overall.
When Grand Theft Auto 6 eventually arrives to smash every record in the book, it'll possibly make all of these numbers look like mincemeat. But for now, Sony's reliable baseball franchise gets to take a well-deserved victory lap.
