Popular anime series concludes with enhanced theatrical version distributed by PVR INOX Pictures

The final chapter of "Attack on Titan," one of anime's most commercially successful franchises, will receive a theatrical release in India through local distributor PVR INOX Pictures, according to promotional materials displayed at a recent Mumbai anime convention.

The 145-minute film, titled "Attack on Titan: The Last Attack," combines the series' final two television episodes into a single theatrical experience with enhanced production values. Director Yuichiro Hayashi supervised technical improvements including upgraded visuals, refined lighting effects, and 5.1 surround sound mixing specifically designed for cinema audiences.

The theatrical version includes a new post-credits sequence not featured in the original television broadcast, providing additional content for the franchise's conclusion.

Based on Hajime Isayama's manga series, "Attack on Titan" has generated substantial revenue since its 2013 anime debut, spawning merchandise, video games, and live-action adaptations. The story follows humanity's struggle against giant humanoid creatures called Titans.

The film premiered in Japan on November 8, 2024, before expanding internationally in January 2025 across markets including the Philippines, Qatar, and Hong Kong. India represents a later addition to the global rollout, reflecting the growing commercial viability of anime theatrical releases in the country.

Growing Indian Market for Anime Films

PVR INOX Pictures, which has previously distributed anime films in India, has not announced specific release dates, language options, or participating theater locations. Anime theatrical releases have shown increasing box office performance in India over recent years, making the market attractive for international distributors.

The film depicts the series' climactic "Rumbling" storyline, in which protagonist Eren Yeager's actions trigger a global catastrophe that forces former allies and enemies to collaborate in a final battle.

Further details regarding the Indian release are expected to be announced by PVR INOX Pictures in coming weeks.
