Highlights

  • BLACKPINK’s Jisoo apologized for fan frustration over limited 10th-anniversary celebratory activities.
  • Although YG confirmed all four members' appearances for the fan meeting, the backlash progressively grew.
  • The anniversary comes as the members pursue solo activities outside YG Entertainment, while being tied to it for group activities only.

BLACKPINK member Jisoo apologized to fans on Saturday (August 8, 2026) after criticism around the limited scale of the group's 10th anniversary celebrations mounted. The key reason for the controversy was a fan meet-and-greet session that was capped at 40 attendees. The event was also announced last-minute, two days before the anniversary date.

Additionally, YG Entertainment initially stated that attendance would rely on individual schedules. However, the agency subsequently confirmed Friday (August 7, 2026) that all four members, Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa, will attend the afternoon event. According to industry sources, YG Entertainment also prepared more anniversary programming like digital fan activities, merchandise releases, and a listening party running August 8 through August 14.

Jisoo Released a Weverse Statement for Fans

While talking about the controversy in a live stream, on the fan community platform Weverse, Jisoo wrote that she felt “specially sorry” about the disappointment caused by the execution of the group’s milestone. She thanked her fans for celebrating the group’s 10th year and said that she is sorry for the frustration caused. “I always want to tell you how grateful I am and how much I love you,” Jisoo said, as noted by Korea JoongAng Daily. She further added that she hoped fans would leave “a little room” for her sincerity despite their dissatisfaction over the schedule management.

Post-YG Management Structure of BLACKPINK

BLACKPINK entered the K-pop world with YG Entertainment in 2016. Their first single album was Square One. Although the group maintained its collective entity with YG Entertainment, none of the four members renewed their exclusive solo contracts with the agency when they expired in 2023.

At the current moment, the members individually operate under separate management structures. For instance, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo established their own ventures named Odd Atelier (OA), Lloud, and Blissoo, respectively. However, Rosé chose to join The Black Label, which also manages BIGBANG member Taeyang’s solo activities. Therefore, the sporadic management structure requires direct coordination between multiple independent entities for group-level appearances, which could potentially be the reason for this sudden affair.
