  • BLACKPINK has surpassed 3.6B streams on Melon, with As If It's Your Last leading their catalog with 260M plays.
  • Strong individual releases, such as Jennie's Solo and Rosé's APT., further enhanced the group's total streaming count.
  • The EP Deadline sold 1.7M copies in its first week while debuting at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, thus expanding the group's global chart run.

BLACKPINK has cemented its place as a digital powerhouse by topping 3.6 billion cumulative streams on Melon, South Korea's leading music platform. Based on internal data disclosed on Monday, the quartet's success is built on a 2.5 billion-stream group catalog, led by the 2017 smash As If It's Your Last, which has received 260 million plays. This classic soundtrack is joined by Ddu-du Ddu-du and Playing With Fire, two of the most persistent digital mainstays of the group in the cutthroat domestic market.

Solo Hits and Deadline Fuel BLACKPINK’s Momentum

BLACKPINK's solo releases have been just as successful, adding more than 1B extra streams to the total. Jennie's breakthrough single Solo has around 180M plays, while Rosé's major collaboration with Bruno Mars, Apt., is fast approaching 133M.

This accomplishment coincides with the economic success of the band's third EP, Deadline. According to Hanteo, the five-track album sold more than 1.7M physical copies in its first week while effectively translating local buzz into global chart momentum. Deadline entered at No. 8 on the Billboard 200, selling 52,000 equivalent album units, 41,000 of which were pure physical sales. Additionally, the album’s lead single Go peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking their 11th career appearance on the list, the most by any female K-pop act to date.

The group's presence has grown substantially in European markets as well. Deadline peaked at No. 11 on the UK Official Albums Chart, while Go made it into the UK Singles Chart. These stats highlight a unique relationship between South Korean streaming supremacy and Western chart longevity.

BLACKPINK’s Streaming Dominance Reflects K-pop’s Global Growth

BLACKPINK's streaming success is an important barometer for South Korea's overall music industry, which reportedly produced around ₩ 9 trillion (~ $6-7B USD) in 2023. Notably, streaming contributed to more than 80% of the country's industry revenue that year, with streaming-related fees making up 45.6% of copyright revenue in 2024. The percentage of fees stated is nearly double the amount reported in 2013. For BLACKPINK, keeping an iron grip on domestic platforms while conquering foreign charts remains a milestone that continues to define K-pop's and the group’s globalization.
