Crunchyroll will stream Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc this spring, the platform announced this week, though no specific date has been set. The film remains available for digital rental on BookMyShow Stream and YouTube Movies, with the latter offering English, Hindi, and Japanese amongst other international audio options.
The movie opened in Japan on September 19, 2025, and reached Indian theaters a week later through Sony Pictures India, which handled both standard and IMAX screenings. The movie has earned widespread acclaim for its action sequences and character development, with fans calling it a significant improvement over the first season while setting up the upcoming International Assassins Arc.

What to Expect from the Reze Arc
The story begins right after the conclusion of season 1 with Public Safety leader Makima assigning Denji a temporary partner after his previous mission against Katana Man. During a movie date with Makima, Denji questions his emotional capacity, prompting her reassurance about his ability to feel.
Caught in a rainstorm while patrolling, Denji takes shelter in a phone booth where he meets Reze, a girl who works at a nearby café. Their relationship develops through late-night encounters, including a memorable scene where she teaches him to swim at her school's outdoor pool.
Things take a sharp turn during a fireworks festival when Reze asks Denji to run away with her. His hesitation, rooted in his conflicted feelings about Makima, triggers events that transform the budding romance into something far more dangerous. What follows involves intense action sequences through city streets, with Denji's colleagues Aki Hayakawa and the Angel Devil getting pulled into the chaos.
The film explores themes of manipulation, loneliness, and Denji's persistent search for human connection despite the violence surrounding him. Without spoiling specifics, the Reze Arc is considered mandatory viewing for understanding Denji's character development heading into future installments.
Chainsaw Man’s Revival
Chainsaw Man's production stagnated after its inventive 2022 first season, which featured cinematic references, varied music choices, and twelve different ending sequences. Fans waited nearly three years for a continuation of the anime, raising questions about MAPPA's commitment to the adaptation.

However, Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc’s theatrical success has revitalized the franchise. MAPPA has already confirmed the Assassins Arc as the next installment, diving deeper into the world of Primal Fears and introducing what fans who’ve read the Manga describe as "one hell of a freaky Santa Claus." The studio's renewed momentum suggests potential to adapt through Part 1's explosive finale, where Denji faces the Gun Devil and his most dangerous manipulator.
