Chequered Ink, a U.K. studio known for its fonts, game assets, and indie titles, has released a 10K-asset game development pack designed as a fully human-made alternative for creators who feel pressured to use AI tools. The UK studio said the collection was built to save developers “time and money so they don’t feel the need to turn to AI to make their games.”
The bundle includes more than 9K graphics for platformers, RPGs, puzzle titles, and board games, along with over 700 sound effects.
Chequered Ink emphasized that every asset was crafted by hand, noting concerns over AI models trained “without permission, on copyrighted content” and the energy use tied to large-scale generation systems.
Chequered Ink Game Asset Pack Offers Human-Made Alternative to AI
One member of this two-person company said stories “will always be better told when they’re crafted with human hands,” even when teams rely on existing assets to fill production gaps. Chequered Ink added that the clean HD style of the pack gives creators flexibility across genres and makes the assets easier to adapt for larger projects.

The pack costs $20, currently discounted to $10 for launch. Buyers may use the assets for any purpose, including commercial releases, without credit, though they cannot resell or redistribute the unaltered files.
The team said this marks the beginning of an ongoing effort to produce more handmade graphics and sounds for developers.
The release comes as indie creators weigh AI convenience against concerns about originality, rights, and environmental impact. Chequered Ink positions the pack as a practical alternative for teams seeking human-made resources in an era dominated by GenAI, making it more appealing to creators and potential partners.
