Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is officially orchestrating a multi-pronged comeback in January 2026 to sustain its dominance in the anime industry. The franchise will launch a premium 4K home media release on January 13, 2026, followed shortly by a massive immersive location-based entertainment project on January 24, 2026. These strategic moves are designed to capitalize on the massive momentum generated by the record-breaking Infinity Castle movie release in 2025 and bridge the gap between theatrical productions.
The first phase of this rollout begins with Aniplex of America’s release of the Demon Slayer - The Movie: Mugen Train Limited Edition 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. Priced at $71.98 and available for pre-order on Crunchyroll, this collector’s set features a rigid box, a special accordion booklet, and exclusive art from animation studio ufotable.
The 116-minute film, presented in 16:9 UHD widescreen, offers a high-fidelity viewing experience for fans who want to revisit the movie that originally grossed roughly $469 million globally. This release allows the studio to monetize its back catalog by targeting collectors who are currently engaged with the brand due to the recent films.
Following the home media launch, the franchise expands its physical footprint into Southeast Asia with the "Total Concentration Exhibition" in Singapore. Running from January 24 to March 15, 2026, this 21,000-square-foot immersive experience will take over the former Singapore Sports Hub Library.
Organized by FriedRice Experience and Aco MEDIA in collaboration with Muse Communication, the event features life-sized recreations of the Mugen Train carriages and the Infinity Castle itself. Tickets for this large-scale activation start at approximately SGD 15.20 (roughly $11.30 USD) during the early bird phase, offering a tangible way for the brand to generate revenue beyond the box office.
Leveraging Record-Breaking Revenue
These January initiatives are timed to capitalize on the franchise's peak market valuation following the historic performance of 2025’s Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle. That film reportedly grossed over $730 million (approximately ¥110 billion) worldwide, as reported by Screenrant.
The Infinity Castle movie opened to $70 million in its first US domestic weekend alone. By releasing a premium version of the older Mugen Train film while the hype for Infinity Castle is still fresh, the IP holders are effectively maximizing the "lifetime value" of every asset in their portfolio.
The business outlook for January 2026 is further bolstered by potential critical acclaim and gaming expansions. The Infinity Castle movie is speculated to be a top contender for the 98th Academy Awards, with nominations scheduled for announcement on January 22, 2026—just days before the Singapore exhibition opens.
A Best Animated Feature nomination would significantly increase brand value in Western markets. Simultaneously, Konami is reportedly set to ramp up distribution of the Demon Slayer: Nichirin Battle Slash arcade game to amusement centers, utilizing a unique sword controller to diversify fan engagement points while Ufotable continues production on the final parts of the film trilogy.
