Jujutsu Kaisen (JJK) managed to become the second best-selling manga of 2025, even though it ended in 2024. The anime’s season 2 had also concluded in the same year, but season 3 is slated for a 2026 release window, which is another factor for Jujutsu Kaisen’s robust manga sales. This shows that the synergy of manga and anime is everlasting and fuels continuous fan engagement.
As per industry-wide sales data for 2025, One Piece recaptured its annual crown, selling about 4.21 million copies. At the same time, Jujutsu Kaisen sold an estimated 3.92 million copies, significantly ahead of the third-place titles. For a story that is only six years old, the feat achieved is remarkable.
Jujutsu Kaisen has earned the title of "modern classic" among many readers. Re-reads, full finished collections, and significant anime interest have kept its demand high. Apart from the anime push, analysts note that both volume sales and back-catalog picks helped to its strong performance throughout the year.
How Jujutsu Kaisen Maintains Long-Tail Market Power
In a market dominated by existing juggernauts and new releases, Jujutsu Kaisen’s second-place finish stands out as a testament to its sustained fan base. It has outperformed several active manga and anime, showing that a completed story might not always fade into the background.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s sales stability can also be attributed in large part to its final volumes, Volumes 29 and 30, which debuted in December 2024 and continued to gain momentum in 2025. JJK’s Volume 30 was among the best individual-volume sellers in 2025.
On November 7, 2025, a special theatrical release titled Jujutsu Kaisen: EXECUTION recapped the Shibuya Incident arc and showcased the first two episodes of the upcoming season 3's first. Season 3 will reportedly span the Culling Game storyline and is currently in development, as confirmed by MAPPA. The season 3 will reportedly span 24 episodes across two seasons. Jujutsu Kaisen: EXECUTION will be released in India and America around December.
Meanwhile, the creator, Gege Akutami, is keeping busy with Mi-Mojuro, his latest manga. The series may not be as significant as JJK, but it reflects Akutami's ongoing interaction with fans and the shōnen community.
