Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution Set for India Theatrical Release
Anime hit JJK’s new compilation film lands in Indian cinemas from Dec. 3, reflecting the growth of anime fandom
Highlights
- Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution hits Indian cinemas on Dec. 3, 2025, according to District app listings.
- The film blends the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game arcs, serving as a narrative bridge from season 2 to JJK season 3, set for global premiere on Jan. 8, 2026.
- Execution’s rollout in India reflects the franchise’s box-office momentum and the rising commercial viability of anime in the country, after the strong performance of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 and growing theatrical demand among Indian anime fans.
Almost a month after its domestic release, anime fans in India will get the big-screen treatment for Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution. After much speculation, the District app by Zomato posted that the movie will release across India on Dec. 3, 2025.
While a formal announcement is due from Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures, according to the District app, the movie will possibly be distributed in India in the original Japanese version; the app doesn’t list any details about other dubbed versions, format, or cities screening the movie. Indian popular ticketing platform BookMyShow also doesn’t list any details about the movie launch.
Following the movie’s debut in Japan on Nov. 7, 2025, Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment started the international rollout from Nov. 14 with the U.K., EMEA, and Latin American regions. However, until recently, there was no announcement of Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution compilation film’s India release.
The plot of the movie combines parts of the “Shibuya Incident” arc with the opening of the “Culling Game” arc, to give the audience a better idea of the transition from season 2 to the upcoming season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen, releasing on Jan. 8, 2026.
The Momentum Behind Execution’s India Rollout
The decision to bring Execution to Indian cinemas reflects not just global hype but strong performance and demand. The movie opened in Japan with a box-office collection of approximately $8.46M in its opening weekend. Upon its release, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution also dethroned the infamous Infinity Castle from its top spot in Japan’s theatres.
According to Box Office Mojo, the movie’s current global earnings are over $10M, however, most of it comes from Japan’s revenue. It’s still a great record, considering the movie is a compilation film, bridging two different seasons instead of having a standalone narrative.
The Indian rollout plan also builds upon the performance of Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the franchise’s previous movie. In India, this movie generated ₹5.4 Cr. (~$604,747) in weekend box office earnings, while grossing at ₹9.8 Cr. (~$109,7504) lifetime box office collection.
Being a compilation film, Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution’s arrival in theatres nationwide may become the clearest test yet of anime’s growing commercial viability on the big screen in India. That aside, fan response on social media from India has already started picking up. Several posts on X and Instagram highlight anticipation; some share nostalgia over earlier seasons, while others express excitement for watching key arcs like the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game in the theatres.
