The production team behind Jujutsu Kaisen has issued a public warning against the unauthorized use of the IP. In a statement shared on the anime’s official X account (formerly Twitter), the production team said it had confirmed the existence of mobile games that use visuals resembling Jujutsu Kaisen and are being distributed on app stores without permission.
The post, shared on Dec 25, 2025, highlights that Jujutsu Kaisen rightsholders have not permitted the use of related content in said applications, thus positioning the incident as a copyright infringement case. They also mentioned that they are not planning to develop or distribute games related to Jujutsu Kaisen, as of now.
The production team noted that it considers such uses a violation of intellectual property rights and added that it would be taking strict measures, including formal takedown actions. While the X post didn’t specify any names, Automaton Media’s reporting suggests the mentioned game could be Domain Duel (Japanese title: Tokkyuu Jujutsushi).
The mobile-specific strategic card game borrows heavily from Jujutsu Kaisen’s core concepts, including near-identical character designs and terminology associated with the series’ signature techniques. A character that resembles Sukuna appears in the app's icon, and several characters that have similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen character designs can be seen in the gameplay photos displayed on the store page.
The game’s description does not mention Jujutsu Kaisen anime/manga, and the copyright is labeled under “Tokkyuu Jujutsushi,” instead of official licensors such as Bandai Namco, Shueisha, and the like.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Popularity and its Copyright Infringement
The move comes as Jujutsu Kaisen remains one of the most commercially valuable anime properties globally, spanning manga, television, film, and licensed merchandise. The original Jujutsu Kaisen manga also became the second best-selling manga of 2025 and joined the list of the top ten manga of all time.
Due to its popularity and demand, the franchise has already sanctioned game adaptations such as Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade and Jujutsu Kaisen Cursed Clash. Jujutsu Kaisen production committee’s statement also urged fans to avoid downloading or engaging with unlicensed games, underscoring concerns that such titles would mislead audiences and undermine official releases.
As anime IP continues to expand internationally, enforcement actions like this are increasingly viewed as necessary to preserve brand value and maintain control over how franchises are represented in interactive media. The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise has previously faced piracy and widespread circulation of leaks of the upcoming season in January 2026.
Whether the warning results in widespread removals from major app stores remains to be seen. However, the public and direct warning by the Jujutsu Kaisen production team reflects growing sensitivity among Japanese rights holders regarding unauthorized use of influential anime IPs.
