Kanye West's India Debut: 130,000 in Queue Before Tickets Dropped

A one-night New Delhi event of Kanye West (aka Ye) generates record digital lineups, premium price tiers, and reselling boom.

19 FEB 2026, 07:09 PM
  • Within minutes of the sales opening, about 130,000 people digitally lined up to secure tickets for Ye's Delhi concert.
  • Ye's Delhi concert tickets which are priced between ₹6,000 and ₹30,000 were snapped up fast by scalpers to resell them at greater costs.
  • The event, sponsored by Whitefox India, Wizcraft Group, and Laqshya Media Group, highlights the expansion of India's live music sector ever since 2020.

Kanye West, who now goes by Ye, will perform at New Delhi's Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on March 29, 2026, his first concert in India. The 24-time Grammy-winning rapper, songwriter and producer, whose discography spans from "The College Dropout" to "Donda," has not toured extensively in recent years, making the one-night-only Delhi date one of his rare live appearances.

When tickets went on sale at 4 PM on Feb. 18 through District by Zomato, more than 130,000 users were waiting in the virtual queue before a single seat had been sold making it what organizers called "the largest pre-sale surge for any solo artist in Indian live music history".

Kanye West’s Delhi Concert: Ticket Prices and the Resale Problem

The ticket costs for the Kanye's concert encompassed all categories, including general and premium ones. Prices ranged from ₹6,000 for general gold admission to ₹30,000 for lounge access. The full breakdown:

  • Gold: ₹6,000 – ₹9,500
  • Gold Premium: ₹10,000 – ₹14,500
  • Platinum: ₹20,000
  • Super Fan Zone (North & South): ₹25,000
  • Lounge: ₹30,000 (top tier)

Almost immediately, scalpers bought up large blocks and listed them at steep markups on resale platforms. The practice drew sharp criticism on social media, where fans posted screenshots of inflated prices and called on organizers to intervene.

Strategic Positioning in India’s Live Entertainment Market

The concert is being produced by White Fox, Wizcraft Group, Plush Entertainment and Laqshya Media Group. It is one of the largest standalone international music events India has staged.

The show arrives as the country's live music industry is expanding rapidly. Revenue grew from $29 million in 2020 to $149 million in 2024, according to PwC's Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2025–29. The sector grew 15 percent in 2024 alone, with Coldplay's Ahmedabad concerts generating an estimated ₹641 crore in economic impact. PwC projects the market will reach $164 million by 2029.

BookMyShow, the country's dominant ticketing platform, reported that live event revenue for the fiscal year ending in 2025 jumped 66 percent to ₹756 crore, growing far faster than its online cinema ticketing business, which rose to ₹828 crore from ₹741 crore a year earlier.

What to expect

Doors open at 8 p.m. on March 29. There is no second date. The 24-time Grammy winner's setlist and production details have not been announced, but organizers have said the staging will be built to international touring standards.
