Bandai and Toei Animation confirmed on Aug 1, 2026, that a new Digimon television anime is in production for a 2027 premiere. The new anime will mark one of the centerpiece projects for the franchise’s upcoming 30th anniversary celebrations.
The new project marks the first confirmed successor to Digimon Beatbreak, the current anime offering from the franchise, which is streaming on Crunchyroll in selected international markets. Beatbreak premiered in October 2025.
Alongside the new Digimon series, Bandai launched the Digimon 30th Anniversary Project. As part of that, Fuji TV will rebroadcast fan-voted favorite episodes from four early Digimon series: Adventure, Adventure 02, Tamers, and Frontier, starting this Oct 4 at 9 am in Japan. Fans across multiple countries voted to select the episodes, according to Oricon.
What Do We Know About the New Digimon Anime Series?
Unlike general announcements tied to existing series, the teaser identifies the project only as a new Digimon anime project. No title, staff, cast, or story details were revealed as of writing. Crunchyroll, the platform streaming earlier anime series from the franchise, did not confirm streaming for the upcoming anime either.
Tokyohive's reporting frames it as an entirely new production and a sequel to Beatbreak. The anime is currently in its final narrative, Kyo Arc, after the release of its 38th episode, and will end its run in 2026.
While details remain limited, the timing is significant. Bandai’s Digital Monster virtual pet toyline, released in June 1997, which later expanded into Digimon franchise, will celebrate its 30th anniversary in June 2027.
The new Digimon anime extends a franchise that has remained active across TV anime, films, video games, trading cards, and merchandise for nearly three decades. The first Digimon Adventure anime began airing in 1999.
