Nike is making its biggest bet yet on Korean cultural capital, and it's coming in two separate waves. The brand is deepening its roots in the global K-pop economy, by partnering with BTS and G-DRAGON, two popular acts that have spent years pushing K-pop culture to the world.
Nike Launches BTS Tour Merch and Custom Collection
Timed to the group's BTS WORLD TOUR ARIRANG, Nike is set to release a first-of-its-kind Nike By You customization experience for the fans of the band. The collection will reportedly have 10 bespoke designs that fans can apply to select Nike apparel and totes. However, the graphics aren't decorative afterthoughts, but bold typography, referencing musical bars, and a recurring emphasis on the number seven, one for each member.
According to Nike, this gives the collection a visual grammar rooted in the band's identity. Alongside this, the company is also releasing exclusive tour merch, which includes T-shirts, a hoodie, and a Korea-only cap. The Nike By You experience goes live on June 1 across Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, London, Paris, Toronto, and beyond, while the tour merch rolls out from June 12, 2026, to Feb 12, 2027, throughout continents like Asia, North America, and Australia.
G-DRAGON and Nike Unveil Football Capsule
Then there's G-DRAGON, who has also partnered with Nike via his fashion label, PEACEMINUSONE. The K-pop star has come together with the brand and the Korea Football Association to launch the Tigers of Asia collection. Reportedly, this rollout is a part of Nike’s ambitious seven-brand “Unmatched Pre-Match,” a venture built around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where BTS will be headlining its halftime show at the finals.
G-DRAGON is said to have designed South Korea’s pre-match capsule, which is a black jersey with a “chaotic back print,” according to Hypebeast. A woven track jacket and a Nike Tech Fleece suit are also included in the apparel lineup. Additionally, the footwear of this collection is equally trendy.
The PEACEMINUSONE x Nike CryoShot also revives the iconic CTR360 Maestri II football boot from 2010. By replacing the shoe’s synthetic upper layer, Nike has used premium natural fibers in an off-white finish, that is accented by University Red Swooshes. The lineup is available for early purchase on PeaceMinusOne.com and TheKFA, with a broader global release on Nike SNKRS expected later this summer.
Nike Expands Hallyu Strategy With BTS and G-DRAGON
All in all, with these two drops, Nike is operating at the intersection of fandom, fashion, entertainment, and sports. By aligning the world's biggest music acts together, Nike isn't just launching products but utilizing Korean cultural capital to capture two wholly different consumer markets at once, cementing Hallyu, or the Korean Wave, as their ultimate growth engine.
