Stray Kids member Changbin has donated ₩100 million (~ $70,650.41 USD) to Samsung Medical Center in Seoul, supporting pediatric healthcare and family psychological support. According to agency JYP Entertainment and hospital officials, the gift will be split in equal halves.
Half the donation, ₩50M (~ $35,348.30), will directly cover the costs of treatment and surgeries for pediatric and adolescent patients coming from a low-income background. While, the remaining ₩50M will fund the emotional and psychological counseling programs for the patients' families.
"Thanks to the profound love and support that I have received from fans, I have become able to help those in need on my birthday," Changbin said in a statement released through his agency. "I hope my heartfelt support reaches where it is needed and brings them hope."
Changbin’s Philanthropy Extends Beyond South Korea
The goodwill marks the second consecutive year of philanthropy for the 26-year-old performer. Changbin made a similar ₩100M contribution to the Samsung Medical Center on his birthday last year, which similarly covered surgical expenses and family support programs for vulnerable pediatric patients.
The repeat gift adds to his wider portfolio of charity. In 2023, Changbin provided a similar amount, ₩100M (~ $70,650.41 USD), to the international organization “The Promise” as aid for emergency relief operations in Turkey and Syria, after the countries were hit by severe earthquakes. His past donations also include donations for domestic wildfire recovery in South Korea.
Changbin’s Donation Comes Amid Stray Kids’ Busy Run
The philanthropic activities from Changbin come amidst a high-volume commercial cycle for Stray Kids. The eight-member group released its latest mini-album, THIS & THAT, on August 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM KST, kicking off a massive promotional cycle.
The band is reportedly set to perform at Tokyo’s National Stadium on August 29 and 30 as part of its RUN IT world tour. The scheduled appearance will make Stray Kids the first foreign male music act to hold a concert at the venue.
Since entering the K-pop market in 2018, the group has become a core revenue driver for JYP Entertainment's global revenue. As one of the most well-known, globally streamed K-pop acts, Stray Kids have given several hits, including God's Menu (2020), Thunderous (2021), Maniac (2022), and Walkin on Water (2024).
