Highlights

  • Twitch surpasses 21M active streamers in 2025, adding 9M new creators worldwide, including 411K from the U.K.
  • U.K. audiences generated 637M hours watched, with Just Chatting, GTA V, and Fortnite leading national viewership.
  • Kai Cenat becomes the first creator to reach 1M subscribers, boosting Twitch’s visibility during rising platform competition.

Twitch reported more than 21M active streamers and billions of hours watched in 2025, driven by strong creator growth across global and U.K. audiences. The platform added 9M new streamers during the year, including over 411K from the U.K., which also surpassed one million active creators.

The company’s annual recap showed rising engagement across key categories and creator segments. Athlete-tagged streams increased nearly 40% year-on-year (YoY), while U.K. viewers generated hundreds of millions of chat messages.

Twitch 2025 U.K. Viewership and Streamer Growth

U.K. audiences favored Just Chatting, GTA V, and Fortnite, producing 637M hours watched from 1.06M active streamers.

Globally, GTA V, Just Chatting, and League of Legends were the top-watched categories. Titles such as Marvel Rivals, EA Sports FC 25, and World of Warcraft also recorded higher viewing and streaming activity in the U.K.

Meanwhile, Kai Cenat’s record-setting year amplified Twitch’s visibility. He became the first creator to reach 1M subscribers on Sept 28, 2025, during his “Mafiathon 3” subathon, which began on Sept. 1 and featured guests that included Kim Kardashian, Ray J, and Snoop Dogg. The event continued through the end of September.

Cenat stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he had “started 2025 a little lost,” but said the milestone marked a complete turnaround, thanking viewers for helping him reach it.

Twitch’s 2025 performance comes as the platform navigates increasing competition. While the company maintains a 54.2% market share, recent viewership declines contrast with rising creator activity and high-profile community moments that signal momentum heading into 2026.
