FC Lorient has partnered with S8UL Esports for the ‘2025-26 eLigue1 season,’ adding S8UL players Julien “Fouma” Perbal and Jonas “Jonny” Wirth to its EA FC roster. Lorient enters the new season as the league’s most successful club, having won every eLigue1 title since 2021.
Perbal returns after contributing to Lorient’s championships from 2021 to 2025, while Wirth joins for the upcoming campaign. The collaboration is S8UL’s first with a football club, expanding its involvement in EA FC esports.
FC Lorient and S8UL Expand EA FC Esports Footprint
S8UL entered EA FC ahead of the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 through the EWC Partner Programme and continued its investment after the event, signing Perbal on Oct. 1, 2025, aiming to strengthen its position in international EA FC competition.
The eLigue1 is run by the Ligue de Football Professionnel, which oversees France’s major football leagues. While the 2026 schedule is pending, previous editions have typically taken place from January to April. The league offers direct qualification to the FC Pro 24 World Championship for its winner, with top performers also advancing to the eChampions League.
In 2025, eleven clubs competed for a €60K (approximately $65K) prize pool in a single-round-robin stage followed by single-elimination playoffs. With its latest partnership, Lorient reinforces its competitive structure, while S8UL gains a foothold in a key EA FC league.
