Highlights

  • M7 World Championship set a new mobile esports peak with over 5.68M concurrent viewers.
  • TikTok and regional language broadcasts hit all-time esports records.
  • MLBB strengthened its global push, with expansion beyond Southeast Asia.

The M7 World Championship for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has set a new record for mobile esports viewership, peaking at over 5.68 million concurrent viewers during its Grand Final in Jakarta. According to Esports Charts, the tournament surpassed the previous mobile esports benchmark established by the Free Fire World Series 2021, ending a five-year reign.

The record was first broken before the final match began. The Lower Bracket Final between Alter Ego and Malaysia’s Selangor Red Giants reached 5,594,138 concurrent viewers, establishing a new industry peak and signaling unprecedented audience momentum heading into the championship match.

M7 World Championship Viewership Sets New Mobile Esports Benchmark

The Grand Final, a 4-0 sweep by Aurora Gaming PH over Alter Ego, pushed the tournament peak slightly higher to 5,680,511. While the series lacked competitive tension, it still delivered incremental growth, driven primarily by Philippine audiences, with peak viewership exceeding 1M.

Indonesian viewership declined compared to the lower-bracket final, reflecting the one-sided outcome and the lack of Malaysian interest following SRG’s elimination.

Beyond overall peaks, M7 established several additional records, with TikTok reaching a new esports high with 2,420,778 concurrent viewers. Indonesian-language broadcasts peaked at 3,854,485, while Tagalog and Bahasa Malaysia streams also set all-time esports records. M7 now stands as the most-watched mobile esports event ever recorded.

Around 3K fans attended the finals inside Jakarta’s Tennis Indoor Stadium Senayan, with more than 10K fans gathering outside the venue. Tickets priced at about $30 sold out immediately and reportedly exceeded $145 on the secondary market.

“When MLBB launched a decade ago, developers spotted the huge development potential in Southeast Asia, especially Indonesia,” Andrian Pauline, chief executive officer of Indonesian esports team RRQ, told Yicai, citing the game’s early market focus. Moonton executive Tinger Xu also told Yicai that Indonesia is now Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s largest market by monthly active users.

With future world championships planned outside Southeast Asia, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is expanding its competitive footprint beyond its traditional strongholds. Its inclusion in the Esports Nations Cup and recognition as an official event at the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games positions M7 as a new global benchmark for mobile esports scale and relevance.
