BABYMONSTER member Asa has gone viral after her latest Weverse selfies sparked comparisons to Resident Evil's Ada Wong across K-pop and gaming communities. Shared on Aug 4, 2026, with the caption "Fog thickens, night vision," the photos featured a short bob hairstyle and dark styling that many fans said closely resembled Capcom's iconic spy.

The posts quickly spread beyond Weverse to X, where gaming accounts also highlighted the resemblance, with fans coining the nickname "Asa Wong." Asa has not publicly commented on the comparisons.

Resident Evil Fans Renew Ada Wong Conversation Ahead of Movie Release

The latest reaction builds on similar comparisons that first emerged in March 2026. At the time, photos of Asa wearing a short bob and a black choker inspired side-by-side edits with Ada Wong's appearance in Resident Evil 2 Remake.

Since the new selfies were posted, fans have encouraged the rapper to play Resident Evil 4 Remake, cosplay as Ada Wong, and even portray the character in a live-action adaptation.

The renewed attention also comes ahead of Resident Evil's Sep 18, 2026, theatrical release. Speaking to IGN at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, director Zach Cregger stated that the film is not a direct adaptation of the games and will not feature established protagonists such as Ada Wong, Leon S. Kennedy, or Claire Redfield. Instead, it follows an original story designed to capture the feeling of playing a Resident Evil game.

"I am not trying to adapt a video game," Cregger noted, adding that he wanted to create "a love letter to the experience of playing a Resident Evil game." He also disclosed that he took liberties with elements such as the modern timeline and snowy setting while retaining core franchise pillars, including the Umbrella Corporation, T-Virus, and Raccoon City.
