Highlights

  • Pragmata sold 1M copies within its first two days and crossed 2M just 16 days after launch.
  • Capcom built early momentum through a playable demo and a multi-platform launch.
  • Director, Cho Yonghee, celebrated the milestone with a new illustration.

Capcom has announced that Pragmata has sold more than 2M copies worldwide within 16 days of release, extending the strong early momentum for the publisher’s new sci-fi action-adventure franchise. The title launched on April 17, 2026, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 version arriving April 24 in Japan and other parts of Asia.

The milestone follows the game’s Friday launch, when Pragmata sold 1M copies within its first two days, before continuing its momentum through the opening weekend.

Capcom stated that the continued growth reflected strong player response to the game’s blend of puzzle mechanics, action gameplay, and emotionally driven storytelling centered on Hugh Williams and his android companion, Diana.

Capcom Highlights Marketing Push Behind Pragmata Launch

Capcom previously noted that Pragmata was developed primarily by a younger internal team and designed as a completely original intellectual property (IP) without an established audience. To build awareness ahead of launch, the company released a playable demo early and supported Nintendo Switch 2 as part of its broader multi-platform strategy.

In its latest press release, Capcom said those efforts helped generate significant momentum shortly after release. The publisher also described the game as an “innovative gameplay experience” that combines action systems with puzzle elements inside a near-future lunar world shaped by artificial intelligence (AI).

To mark the 2M sales milestone, the official PRAGMATA account on X posted a video showing Diana holding a handwritten “2,000,000 units, thank you” drawing.

Pragmata’s Director, Cho Yonghee, also shared a new illustration and thanked players for supporting the title. “I’m excited to share that over 2 million players have joined Diana and Hugh on their lunar journey,” Yonghee wrote.

Capcom also revealed that a life-size statue of Diana is now displayed on the first floor of the company’s headquarters, with a sign celebrating the game surpassing 2M units sold worldwide.

The strong launch gives Capcom another commercially successful original IP as publishers continue evaluating demand for new single-player franchises outside long-running series.
