Digital-First Strategy Pushes Capcom to All-Time Records
Capcom's ninth straight record profit year, driven by digital distribution and PC gaming growth.
Highlights
- Capcom reported 59.07M game sales in FY2026, extending its streak of record profits to nine straight years.
- 93% of Capcom’s game sales were digital, while PC accounted for 54.5% of total sales.
- Resident Evil Requiem sold nearly 7M copies within weeks of its February launch.
Capcom says digital distribution and PC gaming are now driving the company’s growth. The publisher recorded the highest consolidated sales and operating profit in its history for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026. The company sold 59.07M games during the period, up from 51.87M a year earlier, marking its ninth consecutive year of record profits.
The Japanese publisher revealed that 93% of all games sold during the FY were digital downloads. PC also became Capcom’s largest platform by sales share, accounting for 54.5% of total game sales, compared to 33.4% in 2022.
Capcom stated it expects digital sales to rise further to 95.5% next year as console market growth slows and PC gaming expands globally.
Resident Evil Requiem and Catalog Titles Push Record Capcom Sales
A major contributor to the publisher’s performance was Resident Evil Requiem, which sold nearly 7M copies by the end of March after launching in February 2026. Capcom also noted that 83.7% of its annual game sales came from older catalog titles, reflecting continued demand for long-running franchises such as Monster Hunter, Resident Evil, and Street Fighter.

Capcom's FY26/3 Earnings Summary
Looking ahead, Capcom forecasts net sales of 210 billion yen (~$1.33 billion USD) and an operating profit of 83B yen (~$525M) for the current FY. The company also expects total game sales to increase by another 10% to 65M units.
Upcoming releases include Mega Man: Dual Override, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword, while Pragmata has already sold 2M copies in its opening weeks. Outside of gaming, the second season of the Devil May Cry anime premieres this month, and the Street Fighter live-action movie is scheduled to release in October.
The results reflect Capcom’s growing reliance on digital sales, PC players, and long-running franchises as physical console sales continue to decline.
