  • Zelnick called the presentation a “must-see event” and said it would feel like a Netflix show.

Grand Theft Auto VI will get an extended look on Netflix on Aug. 27, giving the streaming service a six-hour exclusive window on one of the year’s biggest videogame marketing events.

The presentation will premiere for Netflix members at 3 p.m. Eastern Time before arriving at 9 p.m. on Rockstar Games’ YouTube channel and the official GTA 6 website. Rockstar and Netflix announced the arrangement last week, calling it a first-of-its-kind partnership.

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick offered more detail in an interview with Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, saying viewers would better understand the decision to use Netflix after seeing the presentation. Asked whether it would feel like watching a Netflix show, Zelnick said yes and described it as a “must-see event.”

GTA 6 Pre-Orders Run Ahead of Take-Two Forecasts

Take-Two opened pre-orders for GTA 6 on June 25, nearly five months before the game’s scheduled Nov. 19 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Zelnick told Bloomberg that orders had “vastly” exceeded Take-Two’s internal forecasts, but declined to disclose a figure. On the company’s latest earnings call, he separately called demand “unprecedented and astonishing,” while cautioning investors against assuming those early purchases would translate directly into higher lifetime sales. Pre-orders can be canceled, and some customers may simply be buying earlier than they otherwise would have.

That caution helps explain why Take-Two left its fiscal 2027 net-bookings forecast at $8 billion to $8.2 billion despite the early demand. The company is heading into the launch with Grand Theft Auto V having sold more than 230 million copies.

Take-Two generated $6.66 billion in GAAP net revenue in fiscal 2026, up 18% from the previous year. Recurrent consumer spending accounted for $5.20 billion, while full-game and other revenue contributed about $1.46 billion. The company doesn’t separately disclose revenue for GTA Online.

Why Netflix Matters for GTA 6

Netflix gives Rockstar access to an audience far beyond traditional gaming platforms. The streaming company said earlier this year that it had surpassed 325 million paid subscribers, while its corporate site says its programming now reaches more than half a billion people globally.

Netflix itself framed the GTA 6 deal in similar terms. Brandon Riegg, the company’s vice president of nonfiction series, said Grand Theft Auto reveals had become cultural events and that Netflix wanted to give ambitious storytelling from different media access to a large audience.

The companies also have an existing gaming relationship. Netflix launched mobile versions of Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City and San Andreas in 2023, although all three have since left its games catalog. Red Dead Redemption arrived on Netflix in December 2025 and remains available through the service.

Financial terms of the GTA 6 agreement haven’t been disclosed. For Netflix, the six-hour window puts one of gaming’s most closely watched reveals inside its subscription service. For Take-Two and Rockstar, it places GTA 6 in front of viewers who may know the franchise without regularly following gaming news, a potentially useful audience as the publisher moves toward its Nov. 19 launch.
