Palworld Version 1.0 Drives Second-Biggest Steam Peak Ever
The full release brought players back to Palworld, delivering its second-highest Steam peak.
Highlights
- Palworld hit 858K concurrent Steam players after its Version 1.0 launch.
- The full release added 72 new Pals, Sunreach, and major gameplay updates.
- Players praised the update but want improvements to base building and Pal AI.
Palworld has recorded its biggest comeback since its original launch. The game's Version 1.0 release pushed its concurrent player count on Steam to 858,562 over the weekend. According to SteamDB, that is the second-highest peak in the game's history.
Only its 2.1M-player early access launch in January 2024 ranks higher.
Pocketpair released Version 1.0 on July 10, 2026, ending more than two years of early access. The update arrived with a 27-page changelog and broad gameplay improvements.
The studio also kept the game's base price unchanged. SteamDB currently ranks Palworld as the No. 3 top-selling game on Steam. It also has a 93.4% positive rating from more than 435K reviews. At the time of writing, over 651K players were in-game.
Palworld Version 1.0 Delivers Major Gameplay Overhaul
The update adds Sunreach, a new region with floating islands. It also introduces 72 new Pals, increasing the total roster to 287. Players also get a higher level cap, improved visuals and audio, redesigned characters, and extensive changes to core gameplay systems.
Pocketpair Head of Publishing and Communications John "Bucky" Buckley, thanked players following the launch. He stated that the team expected strong interest in Version 1.0 but called the response "staggering." He added that the studio hopes players are enjoying their return to the game.
Players Welcome the Update but Want More Fixes
The latest surge is far larger than the previous update releases. The Feybreak update peaked at more than 212K concurrent players in December 2024. Another major update reached around 122K in June 2025. Outside those spikes, Palworld typically drew 25K to 50K concurrent players each week.
Players are already asking for more content, including randomized maps and even a sequel. Others want Pocketpair to focus on polishing existing systems. Base building, pathfinding, Pal AI, and work priorities remain among the most common requests.
The launch has given Palworld fresh momentum. Its long-term success will now depend on how well Pocketpair keeps players engaged after Version 1.0.
