PUBG Mobile: M416 Glacier Gets New Switch Effect

PUBG Mobile is upgrading the M416 Glacier's cosmetic features with a new weapon-switch animation. The developer revealed the Switch Firearm Effect through its official X account on Nov 3, offering a first look at the animation.

The teaser shows blue frost streams bursting from the player's fingertips when switching to the M416 Glacier, creating an icy trail around the character. The animation is expected to arrive with the Version 4.7 update on Nov 12, 2026, although PUBG Mobile has yet to disclose its availability conditions or upgrade requirements.

M416 Glacier's Upgrade Levels and New Animation Details

Originally introduced during a 2018 winter update, the M416 Glacier is an upgradable weapon skin with seven progression levels available through the in-game Lab. Players use weapon materials and paint to unlock its cosmetic features.

The seven levels offer the following enhancements:

• Level 1: Basic appearance with a translucent, ice-moulded finish.
• Level 2: Snow-themed elimination effect.
• Level 3: Enhanced weapon appearance with frost highlights and crystallized layers.
• Level 4: Custom blue-ice elimination broadcast visible across the lobby.
• Level 5: Glowing blue splash effect when bullets hit opponents.
• Level 6: Final appearance featuring a weapon design resembling glowing glacier ice.
• Level 7: Snowman-themed loot crate effect after eliminating an opponent.

The upgrade requirements from Level 2 to Level 7 are:

• Level 2: 2 Materials and 25 Paints.
• Level 3: 3 Materials and 40 Paints.
• Level 4: 4 Materials and 55 Paints.
• Level 5: 5 Materials and 70 Paints.
• Level 6: 6 Materials and 80 Paints.
• Level 7: 7 Materials and 100 Paints.

Players need 27 materials and 370 paints to complete these six upgrade stages, excluding the base appearance. Whether the new switch animation requires additional resources is unknown.

PUBG Mobile 4.7: X-Suit, Royale Pass A22 and More

The upcoming update is also expected to introduce an upgradeable X-Suit, premium Gilt sets, Royale Pass A22, and the Hola Buddy companion system. Two additional Ultimate Sets are reportedly planned for Nov 25 and Dec 25, 2026, featuring male and female variants, respectively.

Leaks also suggest that the switch animation could extend to the AKM Glacier. Another reported addition is a Glacier Groza event connected to Mythic Gems.

Neither feature has received official confirmation.

The animation adds value to the skin, but its appeal will depend on the upgrade cost. The effect could also reach Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), although KRAFTON India has yet to confirm it.
