Highlights

  • KRAFTON is taking its flagship battle royale franchise beyond gaming with a Netflix adaptation.
  • The project brings together production partners from the film and television industry.
  • The announcement adds another major gaming IP to Netflix's expanding adaptation slate.

KRAFTON announced on Oct 30, 2026, that its PUBG franchise is getting a live-action series adaptation at Netflix. Atlanta creator Donald Glover will write, direct, executive produce, and star in the series, while his brother Stephen Glover will join as a writer and executive producer.

The game does not have an official story mode or central narrative campaign, leaving the creative team room to develop original characters and storylines around its survival-based format.

Who are the Names Behind PUBG's Upcoming Series?

The production brings together several companies and executives:

  • Donald Glover: Director, writer, executive producer, and lead actor.
  • Stephen Glover (Donald’s brother): Writer and executive producer.
  • Michael Schaefer: Executive producer for NEON TV. He is also NEON's chief content officer, with the studio behind Parasite and Anora.
  • Fam Udeorji: Executive producer for Gilga.
  • Taeseok Jang and Sujin Lee: Executive producers for LV3H.

The Glover brothers previously collaborated on Swarm, Guava Island, Atlanta, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Donald Glover's Amazon MGM agreement also reportedly shifted from an exclusive pact to a first-look arrangement following lengthy negotiations, providing flexibility to work with Netflix.

PUBG Joins Netflix's Growing Queue of Video Game Adaptations

The series will be developed and produced with LV3H, KRAFTON's entertainment division, which is focused on original content for international streaming markets. The company describes PUBG as a global gaming franchise with seven Guinness World Records.

Clash of Clans Barbarian King is featured in Netflix's animated adaptation, surrounded by arrows and holding a sword against a dark red background with a glowing Netflix logo.

Netflix

The partnership adds to Netflix's growing slate of video game adaptations, which includes:

  • A live-action Assassin's Creed series, which began filming in Rome in March 2026 and wrapped production in October.
  • A live-action Gears of War film, alongside a planned adult animated series based on the franchise.
  • A CG-animated Minecraft series featuring an original story and new characters.
  • An adult animated Magic: The Gathering series, developed with Hasbro Entertainment and DIGIC Pictures.
  • An animated Clash of Clans and Clash Royale series, announced in partnership with Supercell in May 2025.

KRAFTON and Netflix have not disclosed the series' storyline, additional cast, production schedule, or release date.

KRAFTON's approach aligns with the growing competition among game publishers to turn established franchises into screen properties. However, securing a high-profile creative team is only the first step, and the PUBG adaptation will need to stand out in an increasingly crowded market of video game-based productions.
