Roblox Q3 2026: India Growth Amid AI Push and Falling Bookings
Revenue climbs 16%, but declining bookings and engagement prompt questions about future growth.
Highlights
- Roblox saw strong growth in India despite weaker global user activity.
- AI adoption is reshaping Roblox’s game development and expansion plans.
- Revenue growth contrasted with declining bookings and player engagement.
Roblox recorded 37% year-over-year (YoY) growth in daily active users (DAUs) in India during the third quarter (Q3) 2026, even as its global user engagement declined against strong comparisons from 2025. The company is using AI-powered development, external game integration, and new distribution channels to expand beyond its user-generated content (UGC) ecosystem.
For the quarter ended Sep 30, Roblox reported 138M DAUs, down 9% YoY but up 12% quarter-over-quarter (QoQ).
Likewise, hours engaged reached nearly 34B, down 15% annually. On a two-year basis, both metrics increased 55% and 63%, respectively.
Roblox Increases AI Game Creation and Distribution
More than 80% of Roblox's top 100 games by hours engaged used AI tools.
Daily asset uploads tripled month-over-month (MoM), while AI usage among top creators tripled since Q2. Its build tool attracted over 500K users and generated more than 70K published games during its alpha rollout.
Two largely AI-created titles, Break and Steal an Egg and Huss Valley, entered the top 20 by concurrent players.
Roblox also outlined three initiatives:
- Roblox Everywhere: Enables standalone game publishing on external app stores, with its first phase planned for H1 2027.
- Universal Player: Aims to import existing PC, console, and mobile games into Roblox.
- Roblox Reality: Targets photorealistic multiplayer experiences, with early access planned for H1 2027.
Web Play through Chrome, offline gaming, and expanded 2D development are also in development.
The Q3 Revenue and Monetization
Revenue reached $1.57B USD, up 16%, while bookings fell 12% to $1.7B. The company reported a $230M net loss and $138M adjusted EBITDA.
Other significant figures:
- India DAUs: +37%; hours engaged: +28%.
- Monthly unique payers: 30M, down 16%.
- Roblox Plus: Millions of active subscribers.
- Age checks: 64% of global DAUs completed verification.
- Operating cash flow: $395M; free cash flow: $364M.
Roblox expects Q4 revenue of $1.47B to $1.58B, while bookings are forecast to decline 10% to 15% YoY. Its expansion strategy targets 10% of the global gaming market.
However, the gap between rising revenue and declining bookings and player engagement raises concerns about whether its ambitious expansion strategy can translate into sustainable long-term growth.
