Pragmata Reviews Raise 8GB VRAM-Related Questions Ahead of Launch

Capcom benchmark limits add new focus on Pragmata PC performance concerns.

Highlights

  • Pragmata reports noted RTX 4060 performance dropped at 1440p, while RTX 5090 ran smoothly at 4K max settings.
  • Disabling shadow cache and lowering memory load reportedly delivered a dramatic Pragmata performance boost.
  • Capcom reportedly restricted Pragmata pre-release GPU benchmark comparisons until April 16, 2026.

Capcom’s upcoming title Pragmata is drawing early attention over PC hardware demands after reviewers reported performance issues on some 8GB VRAM graphics cards. In a technical analysis, Digital Foundry stated the game delivered high frame rates on an RTX 5090 at 4K with maximum settings.

Meanwhile, on an RTX 4060 at 1440p, performance was initially stable but declined after moving beyond the demo section.

According to the source, once the player reached the control center, heavier stuttering became visible, and frame rates fell well below 60 fps. A later street area created further strain, while some cutscenes reportedly dropped to single-digit frame rates.

However, after adjusting settings and disabling the shadow cache, the experience became smoother and held closer to 60 fps.

The tester claimed that freeing memory on the RTX 4060 made a significant difference. Based on that result, it said VRAM limits were the likely cause rather than a lack of raw GPU power or missing Nvidia feature support.

Pragmata PC Performance Raises Fresh 8GB VRAM Debate

The analysis added that Pragmata uses ray tracing and strand-based hair effects, settings some players may not want to reduce.

The reviewer also pointed out that the game’s options menus may not accurately reflect memory usage. With DLSS set to Balanced mode at 1440p, the RTX 4060 would typically be expected to run the title more smoothly.

Separately, TechPowerUp reported that journalists were only permitted to display results from one graphics card before April 16, 2026. The publication described the condition as unusual and stated it required edits after coverage had already been published.

It remains unclear whether Capcom’s benchmark restriction was linked to inconsistent results on some mainstream GPUs. Once broader testing is allowed, Pragmata could become another reference point in the growing debate over whether 8GB VRAM remains sufficient for modern PC games.
