Reliance Industries and Meta have launched a joint venture, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), with an initial investment of INR 855 Crore (around $102.6M USD) to develop enterprise AI solutions in India and select international markets. The formation was disclosed in a stock exchange filing on October 25, 2025.

REIL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Intelligence Limited, a prior joint venture between Reliance and Meta. Reliance Intelligence will contribute Rs 2 crore and hold a 70% stake, while Meta’s Facebook Overseas will own 30%, noting that no regulatory approvals were required for incorporation.

The venture will develop and market enterprise AI solutions, combining open-source models with Reliance’s strengths across energy, retail, telecom, media, and manufacturing.

Reliance and Meta Collaborate to Advance Enterprise AI Solutions in India

The partnership was first announced at Reliance’s 48th annual general meeting in August 2025. Mukesh Ambani said the venture will “combine open models and tools with our execution in energy, retail, telecom, media, and manufacturing to deliver sovereign, enterprise-ready AI for India.”

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg highlighted the technology’s potential to “bring a new era of personal empowerment, giving people greater agency to improve the world in all the directions they choose.”

The venture comes amid India-US trade tensions and a government push to promote domestically developed digital solutions. Several ministers and senior officials have adopted homegrown platforms such as Zoho and MapmyIndia.

Reliance has also partnered with Google to expand AI cloud infrastructure in India, beginning with a data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

REIL positions India as a key market for enterprise AI, combining global AI expertise with local industry knowledge, expecting to accelerate digital transformation across multiple sectors and strengthen India’s presence in the global AI ecosystem.
